The Hope Memorial Bridge (formerly the Lorain–Carnegie Bridge) is a 5,865-foot-long (1,788 m) art deco truss bridge crossing the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio. The bridge connects Lorain Avenue on Cleveland's west side and Carnegie Avenue on the east side, terminating just short of Progressive Field. Pairs of statues designed by sculptor Henry Hering and architect Frank Walker – officially named the Guardians of Traffic[3] – stand on pylons at each end of the viaduct, symbolizing progress in transportation. On July 23, 2021, the professional baseball team in Cleveland announced that they will change their name to the Cleveland Guardians, at the end of the 2021 season, in honor of the Guardians of Traffic.

Wait. What? The Reds name origin had nothing to do Native Americans. Name came from red stockings, which led to red legs because the color of the stockings...red. But they aren't safe.

Someone, somewhere, in some point in history referred to a Native American as a "Red". Therefore a negative appropriation of the word "red" can be inferred. Oh the huge manatee! Shine the beacon of political correctness. Summon the Social Justice Warriors! The Reds must be cancelled!

BTW: As an 8 year old Pirate fan in 1979, I remember sneaking out of bed to watch it. Dad just laughed when I cheered by accident. Stealth mode failed. lol. I can easily name more guys from that roster than I can that have been on it since.

At least if they were going to go woke, they had a name in reserve to use.

I'm thinking of the team formerly called the Washington Redskins, of course. They're still Washington Football Team. I think they should just go with Washington Team Football. It has a soccery feel and you can abbreviate it WTF, as if "WTF just happened?! How do you lose by that many points in football?"
