I'm not going to go into too much detail, but I got to meet the Gods of Old or as the one in control now refers to them as "The Ancient Ones".

Seems... there was some serious bs involved and the Gods of Old were locked up and cast into some questionable prisons, they will be making a return soon but in reality, there is seems to be a constant war or battle between them to ensure which pantheon stays, returns or rules.

Why did the Gods of old lose to the so-called Christian God?

Also why of all times now that they are planning to return?

What does it mean for us humans?

the "gods of old" were made up... similar to those that worship material things...

the "christian" god won because the church decided that those that worship gods other then theirs should be exterminated

There are no ancient ones. There is no now and then.

Time is eternal. So are the "ancients". The ancients become the currents, morphing into the futures...there is no time.

Thats our greatest mystery. There are only "ONES"....Transcending time itself...

Time is constant, fleeting, and an illusion.

Sentience or critical thinking...its a revolution baby.

Maybe the Gods of Old are from a very far an distant future, while the new ones could be from the not so distant past.

Why must we create "God(s)" of any kind?

Especially when that which we create can, and will, only reflect our own frailties.

As a child, clinging to the relative safety and security of its parents learns, as it matures, to part from its parents to venture and discover on its own, so too must humanity learn to leave the comfort of a "divine" hierarchy behind so as to realize its true place in the real Universe.

Kinda just sounds like the Cthulhu Mythos

The Elder Gods, the Other Gods, the Great Old Ones, etc.

Who are the "bad guys?" Who are the "good guys?"

Could any insight into this realm of things be tainted by the human proclivity for fear of the unknown and the incomprehensible?

When this is coupled with the tendency towards hubris, in thinking humans created "everything" and know the entire history of the universe, its quite an interesting mix.. Of course, when its phrased like that few are willing to claim it.

Perhaps the battle is simply over the potential of humanity.

undoubtedly evil spirits roamed the earth throughout human history.

The Bible suggests that some of them are chained / restrained (2 Peter 2:4)
and some will be released for a while. (Rev 16:13)

I wouldn't call them 'gods'. spirits, yes, but evil ones.

personally I want nothing to do with them. they bring nothing but harm.

I've had some wild dreams and fantasies myself. Best not to believe everything you dream or imagine. It makes dealing with reality that much more difficult.

Mayhaps imagination, dreams, stories, and fantasies play a bigger role in human civilization than many.. imagine

I dont want to derail the thread, just know you are appreciated lol

I do genuinely believe dreams, lucid dreams in particular, are a nearly completely unexplored facet of our experience and existence as humans though.

We have no actual structure or system for exploration, and even when a dream does shift into lucidity it tends to be fleeting at best.

It was a change from polytheism to monotheism. The christian god of the old testament was cruel and unforgiving was changed to a more desirable christian god of the new testament that is loving and caring.

Perhaps it depends who is telling the story, and how they want us to react ?

Is not the promise of a golden parachute, quite attractive to anyone suffering through a miserable existence ?
