So will the western world seek to adopt the failed one child policies of our Chinese allies?

Or will we create some kind of child tax making it difficult for all but the rich to have child... and the pore who will be exempt due to concerns over racism. Does baring the middle class from having children good enough to fix the problem?

again with the melodrama.

a girl struggles with bringing a child into the world and you all go straight to eugenics and racism. it's weird. i personally wish more people would think of every possible scenario good bad and ugly with regards to having children. sounds like you just want to silence her or anyone who thinks like her.

she decided to have a baby and it sounds like she's going to raise the child to care about the environment. again, the horror!! i did the same and my daughter doesn't care much for material things - is that bad?

My two children are the direct result of two very fun days of drinking to much alcohol and deciding "protection" would be a serious come down from an otherwise great day of fun with my wife. The only thing we were thinking about at the time was the ramifications of having pizza vs Chinese delivered (we don't drink a drive). And I can honestly say having those children was the best decision I never made in my life.

I think more people should stop thinking about every possible scenario good bad and ugly that can happen to them when they do things.... a good start would be unplug from social media.

I find it hilarious that I actually agree with the statement that breeding is environmental vandalism.

We have a serious overpopulation problem. Want to see it? Try to get something done on a weekend. Try to enjoy yourself on vacation. Try to shop in the evening. Try to get home during rush hour. Try buying sushi for a price anywhere near reasonable.

There are way too many Homo sapiens. Nearly 8 billion.

Time. For. A. Plague.

Not just a simple pandemic.

Always bitching about overpopulation, never actually taking themselves out of the population total to lead by example.

The Over-Poppers (they deserve a mockery of a nickname) really just need to go play in traffic, swim in icy water, huff things, etc & get it over with.

I said "people" not "knoxie" ... I know your a people, but I didn't want to be accused of assuming so I made the sentiment more inclusive in order to be more accurate. But I guess in this day and age were "people" analyze everything to death you can still be accused of something you specifically tried not to do.

I don't know what's funnier, the goofy article, or the fact that it's in Vogue magazine. The author is crying out about the horrible greedy rich, with their evil capitalism. She laments how the world is being destroyed by consumerism, materialism, and commercialism.
Yet directly above her story is a link to The Vogue Shop, where a sweatshirt costs $180.00. There's also a page featuring accessories that you "must have", according to Vogue.

You just can't make this stuff up.

Sure thought-involved included "can I realisticly feed said child" is a good idea...

Thought-involved included "if I have this child might it lead to world calamity, fire and brimstone" is a bit much. I guess someones going to eventually be the mother and father of the anti-christ but the odds are very small.

Are you thinking of the Nuclear Family BS. It started seriously in the UK in the 1960s, the family should be mother, father and 2 children, preferably boy and girl.
This was to stop large families, bbbuuuttt, Germany took this up seriously and it's lead to the state it's in now. The native German population has dropped that much that they have lost the core of a viable population. Hence a certain MS Merkel openly inviting immigrants in to prop up the population.
For a healthy population you have to have a healthy child bearing population and it aint just 2 kids.
And I wish these silly people would drop the "the world is over populated" BS. I could virtually guarantee that these people falling for this live in cities. The only over population is because they are concentrated in cities.

Oh Prof, now add an extra statement on your post with the other side of the coin.
Anyone who doesn't want children should never be talked into it by parents, period, and no one should convince them otherwise. AGREED!.
Now, anyone who doesn't want children should not have the right to persuade anyone else NOT to have children. It works both ways.

I didn't breed. Are you suggesting I commit suicide?

If so, you are sick.

Just because you didn't breed doesn't mean you're not somehow wasting someone else's space & resources still.

Look, the point isn't to tell you to outright go off yourself, it's to make you THINK about how stupid your end of the argument truly is. It's oh-so-overpopulated, yet the ones bitching the loudest? Keep breathing.

It's impossible to take the "Too Many People Exist" line seriously if you're (AS A DAMN GROUP/MOVEMENT) not willing to reduce your group's population to make the point clear. Mostly because you're part of the very issues you bitch about, yet never make any first moves.

Basically, you're the ideological equivalent of the militantly anti-fat, but also very obese fat chick at the mall food court bitching about all the OTHER heifers strutting through.

The problem with your suggestion is that it implies that new beings shouldn't get the same chance at life that you did.

I assumed I was going to need another follow up, but you hit my next point nicely. Which allows me to expand it further to interpret the beliefs as a higher (better) & thus more deserving Caste/Echelon/Class/BSJABHWhatever of people.

She's not alone.

Here's Vox whining about pet ownership.

Weighing the environmental impacts of pets, one expert suggested reducing the rate of dog and cat ownership in favor of other animals.

In The Highlight, find other measures dog- and cat-lovers can take to reduce their pets' carbon footprint:

So you shouldn't have your dog or cat. They're bad for the planet ... just like children.

The thing is that you don't want the society, so rather than remove yourself from society's presence (by maybe moving away and learning how to make your own sushi) you'd rather remove society so you won't have to wait for food or in a traffic jam.

If you can't see the problem with this, I can't help you.

That's odd.

Prince Harry and Megan whatsername, climate lecturers extraordinaire, have just got a cat!
It's a peculiar habit of theirs to blame us all for climate change, yet almost everything they want us to stop doing is also something that they themselves do regularly.

It's almost like they're just taking the p**s out of us.

They wouldn't be another pair of hypocrits, would they???
