Just got back from the theater.
A simple answer is if you like big monsters fighting you will like this movie.

The plot isn’t exactly deep.
The weak point is as usual in these films, the humans.
A big thumbs up for the fights.
You could actually see the action and knew what was happening.

The advanced technology of the evil corporation was a bit to much.
One problem for me was that the plot just expected us to accept whatever an “expert” said.
We have no idea what’s there but we have machines ready to use when we get there. Uh, ok..

And for goodness sake’s, you are in a high tech fighter jet capable of flying higher than 150 feet.
Stop flying within arms reach and shoot your missiles from five miles out.

I guess the easiest way to sum up the movie is the following.
If you go in expecting The Godfather, you will be disappointed.
If you go in expecting big monsters to fight, you will be happy.

Spoilers below...

This movie has mecha Godzilla.
The execution was great but I wasn’t impressed with the design.
Not really terrible just I prefer the older Japanese version.

I watched it last night I thought it was done fairly well, the CGI was very good. Overall liked it better than Skull Island or the previous Godzilla. Hokey in some parts but that's to be expected.

Yes.

Because in real life that never happens, like when an "expert" shows up on CNN....

I watched it with wife yesterday at home with HBO Max. Yes, not a great plot but the fights are cool. 2 styles. Kong was more like a street fighter with smooth smart moves and Godzilla as expected, using it's always reliable techniques and abilities.

Mechagodzilla was really bada$$. I'm so happy Godzilla and King Kong survived. I couldn't pick one of them.

I found interesting that conspiracy theorist with the podcast. Almost like an ATS member.

The level of destruction went up in this movie, they smashed everything.

The first one I saw they vaporized Godzilla into a skeleton underwater.

COOL! (I was young.)

I would say it's slightly above average. The ending fight just wasn't enough, it felt a little rushed. I do like the fact they're moving in the more campy direction of some of the Showa or Heisei era Godzilla movies. Hopefully they'll continue to make them, otherwise I'll just wait on the Japanese ones to start back up.

Why is that a problem? It sounds to me like one of those "art models life, life models art" types of things. I intend on seeing this when I get a chance, sadly in my local Adolf Hitler still has the movie theaters shut down, I am also looking forward to the new Mortal Kombat movie too so If you get to see that in theaters please think of me and write a review about the movie and your theater experience...please.

True, and it’s just as dumb in real life as it is in this movie.
The expert in this one writes a book about a place and when he gets there he knows all the answers...and
He can also fly the high tech aircraft that he’s never seen before.and
He loses his glasses so he looks hot....haha

Yea the humans and overall writing sucked. Monsters performed very well and I loved the carrier scene.

MechaGodzilla was rushed. Seems they put 2 movies in done. They didn't but touch on the power source or linking it to mech. Also the tech stretched reality with no explanation.

That said this would be expected after the first Godzilla. Humans to ramp up weapons and tech.

Hubby was super ticked off that the guy who was all about animal behavior in King of the Monsters was now nothing about animal behavior in this one.

Godzilla shows up and destroys something very deliberately and promptly disappears, and that guy suddenly declares that Godzilla is all homicidal and stuff. Nope. No intentional behavior here at all!

Yeah, the human parts are by far the weakest part of the movie.
The are cliche characters and don’t behave as they should,

I enjoyed the heck out of it.If you want a human drama plot watch something besides a Godzilla movie for crying out loud. All I expected was giant monsters fighting and it delivered big time.
