Microsoft, Epic, Mayo Clinic join effort to accelerate digital COVID-19 vaccine records

Big names in tech and healthcare including the Mayo Clinic, Cigna's Evernorth and Microsoft are teaming up to create a digital COVID-19 vaccination passport.

The Vaccination Credential Initiative (VCI) will work to create technology standards that will enable individuals to have digital access to their vaccination records.

The cross-industry coalition includes health IT heavy hitters Epic, Cerner and Change Healthcare along with tech giants and healthcare companies Mitre, Oracle, Safe Health, Salesforce, the Carin Alliance and The Commons Project Foundation.

I think we all suspected this was coming. Interesting thing to me however is that initially at least, they are simply giving people little scraps of paper stamped with the information about being vaccinated which most will probablly discard once they get the second dose. So the question then becomes one of insufficient documentation at the outset of the vaccination effort.

or enter large stadiums or venues, for example, what about trade markets? We used to get 5000 visitors at our trade markets and that didn't include vendors who flew in easily 6-9000 people for a 4-day market. And yea we had people from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean. The Chicago Market was even larger.

Convention business is huge oops strike that was huge. You throw one more hurdle fewer people will attend. That is just the facts. It is going to be tough as hell getting people back as it is.

interestingly this is a violation of privacy rights to begin with.

first thing i thought of was violates HIPPA, and the feds would have to pas a law for it.
then if the feds don't pass a law and unless you give consent. then if they don't hire you, or fire you they open themselves for labor/hireing law violations.
