Another member posted this thread about the programming we receive through ads, and in this case, it was about mainstreaming androgynous individuals.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Definitely, I'm noticing an exaggerated effort to show the normalization of extremes. Lots of ads that are breaking convention, or showing lots and lots of diversity. It's not a bad thing. I like diversity.

It feels like a superficial effort though, forced, perhaps a conscious attempt to erase whitey, or portray men as toxic. I don't know. I don't care. Show mixed couples and mixed groups in your ads, it doesn't matter. You're pandering, and the product still sucks!

Another trend I'm noticing is a lot of ads are playing on the whole '2020 sucked' but 2021 is going to be the best thing ever! Wow the media is really cheerleading this one. They shoved a lot of ideas in our throat the last year: wear your mask, wash your hands, embrace your new normal etc.

Now they want to pass off as fact that 2021 is going to be a new and glorious era! Ha!

All good and well so far, until Satan walks the Earth..

I get they're trying to be edgy and modern, but really? REALLY?

What is this ad really trying to say? Welcome Satan into your life for a better 2021???

Weird things I've noticed after re-watching:

1) squirrel struck by lightning

2) end zone says W T F

3) covid symbolism, gym equipment is closed, stealing toilet rolls

4) asteroids raining down

Anyone else notice weird azz commercials and ads going around?

First : I dislike the word "diversity" as its roots are in the word divide. I like the word "unity" instead.
Second : I have just seen that commercial . The first thought was "the Antichrist arrived in 2020" and Satan has taken over the world.

Of course that's what you thought since that's exactly what happens in the ad. Yay 2021!~

Anyways people can't unify unless every race, color, creed, and no less than 50 gender pronouns are represented in a Tostitos ad.

It seemed pretty peaceful, so I didn't count it as abnormal

I use ad blocker, and any pesky ads that come through get instantly dismissed/closed down /scrolled over.

My pet hate has been ads for decades, i always feel that they insult your intelligence.

They all say "this product is great" and "I use this product every day" because they are paid actors so fk off!!!!! lol

I don't mind funny adverts, or adverts with real consumers.
This ad in the OP was mildly amusing but unnecessary too.

Brings all new meaning to the phrase, "Get thee behind me, Satan!"

I’ve seen the commercial and even read an article on it a while back, I never thought premonition of NWO or anything like that, but thought it was witty and pretty funny.

Ryan Reynolds has an ad company now and this is one of his. Once you realize Ryan Reynolds is the master mind of this it somehow makes it a little funnier if you’re a fan of his. It was a very sh177y year, and to see it as a romantic match for Satan is pretty damn funny, as they walk through the world going to hell and laughing. He’s a funny guy and obviously damn good at creating ads that create a buzz.

Then the TV shows, the Entertainment News, the bloggers, vloggers, the talking heads, and the paid internet influencers, push the messages forward.

We are so bombarded with the messages, subliminal, and overtly, that we start to believe those messages are our own ideas. They feel normal. They feel right.

It becomes such an intergral part of our society that if you resist, you are doxxed, shunned, attacked, or eliminated. They want you to believe that resistance is futile.

They really have done an amazing job on us. So amazing that the majority of us think, we are woke, and that makes us smarter than them, and untouchable.

Just shows how successful they have been in conditioning us.

Ads are not only trying to sell you a product, they are selling you a whole way of life. They want you to buy into ‘the American dream’ for example, or a character from the show Friends. They are selling you an identity, who you are..

When you buy their products you are really buying a lifestyle.

Olaru12 posted this earlier this month:

People have no idea of the research, planning and scripting that goes into even small seemingly inconsequential media presentations. And it is constantly changing depending upon which way the cultural wind blows. I'm in the studio now working on just what you described. Production is about the money. If Capitalism is an ideology, then so be it. Is their a media conspiracy to shape culture or is media just a reflection of what an incredibly complicated species does? There are rooms filled with media geeks online trying to predict the next trend so capitalist can profit.
Digital technology has changed everything and data is King!

While reading it I was reminded of the scene in "Twister" where Bill picks up dirt and lets it sift out of his hand to see what the wind was doing. That's exactly what's happening. The current media geeks are like the corporately-sponsored (because they are) storm chasers using all sorts of data to figure out what people want next. The problem is they're missing the most important factor, that humans don't always follow data, that's one reason we're different from animals.

Commercials push an agenda, they always have. Ignore what you disagree with, it's pretty easy to do. Or like someone else said, ignore the ads or don't buy from companies that turn you off.

Well, I dont watch TV with ads...but I did find season 4 of Z Nation Interesting. The whole season is 'The Reset is Coming.' it aired in 17.

The Reset was a 4th strike Biological weapon, delivered via Rain, to kill everyone in event the USA fell into the hands of Commies after a war.Of course it was TV so it went wrong people became sick instead.

Season 5, the last in 18, was 2 people trying to set up Newmerica with a New Constitution.

1 was an androgenous Female named George who carried around a pocket Constitution and wanted to save the books and history from Old Merica.

The other was a Man who wanted everyone who got sick from the rain, in quarantine. Everyone else was to be put on lockdown for their safety.

The election results were to be announced and there was a bombing. Vigilantes were loose burning and killing.

Watching it a couple months ago was a trip.

While you are right, let’s not forget the advertisers, public relations companies and used car salesmen also use techniques to manipulate your thinking. They aren’t just looking for what will be the next big trend, they are trying to engineer the next big trend. Let’s not forget about propaganda.

I have met so many people in my life that swear up and down that they don’t watch TV anymore. I then ask them do you watch Netflix, Amazon prime, Hulu, Disney+.. etc?
They are like Yea! I love the murdur cold case shows on Netflix blah blah. I then say well guess what? YOU STILL WATCHING TELEVISION if your ass is in front of a computer laptop screen. A screen is a screen. I would argue people watch even more television with the invention of streaming services.

Also, I did an experiment one time. Really pay attention to how American men are portrayed in commercials. Men are lazy, Homer Simpson like., always needing help from the opposite sex to solve a funny problem. Men are portrayed as weak beta males who always date women or married to women who solve all the families problems for them and then the woman always has a snarky grin at the end of the commercial.

I am not joking. You should pay attention to the amount of commercials that bash men as lazy, dumb and can never accomplish any goals.
