Sorry K...of late? You seem to have gone to the Dark Side...(somewhat disappoint edly)

I would wonder why such a thoughtful person would be pushed to a side.

My observation is that you, yourself, have been moving in the opposite direction.

Honestly, even if what you took this statement to mean was accurate I'd still prefer that over the current model where friends of Trump and McConnell are given priority.

Truthfully?

I am a mother with son. Despite his mixed racial heritage, he looks firmly white male. He has a lot to lose with this CRT crap being pushed on all of us.

I worry for him. A lot.

You seem to be the only person whining as it seems people who aren't white and male shouldn't have the same rights as them. That is the only thing that can be deducted to your OP if you actually read the article you posted.

Really?

I did read the article. It says what I said, and a lot of people are having the same reaction to it that I am.

It has nothing to do with thinking people should have more or less rights, and everything to do with thinking we all should have the same ones regardless of whether we're white, black, Latino, female, male, gay, straight, etc., pushing or even referencing the idea that certain groups should have priority to equality is bad. When you prioritize anyone, you're putting them ahead of others in importance.

I mean I guess during segregation no one should have wined about bus seats, right? It's not like no one had them, just that some were prioritized to take them first before the rest, but everyone had bus seats, so everyone was equal.

Clearly if this thread is anything to go by, the majority of people aren't.

Why don't you just be honest and admit it's clickbait that pushes your agenda and have done with it. The problem is when you keep distorting the facts, no one will listen to you when you actually don't.

You don't listen to me anyway.

I have been listening to you. You've latched on to the word equality. It's a nice buzzword, but it also implies that those groups don't have access to stuff now.

I already told that under the law, they do. It would be illegal to discriminate based on both the 14th Amendment and the Civil Rights Act. Anyone that did would be found guilty in a court of law. Additionally, what Biden is proposing is likewise illegal, even if it's being done in the name of favored groups because they are perceived to be oppressed.

You cannot give priority to a group and still call access equal to all groups.

Let's try it this way: If the state prioritizes people in LTC facilities and frontline health care workers for the COVID vaccine, are you and I still receiving equal access to it?

The word priority was printed in cursive so few understand it.
Equality and Priority are actually not friends.

White males can band together and sue for racial and sex discrimination and get bigger bucks than the paltry amount in the stimulus which mostly goes to pork projects that enrich the rich.

I latched on to it because it's what the article is all about, you seem to be ignoring it because you think equality is just a buzzword.

What I find objectionable is the continued division by class and the apparent effort to replace on middle class with another more to the liking of the ruling class and by artificial means.

They aren't trying to life everyone up, but they're more trying to create a new, preferred reality by destroying another.

I don't have any issue with a policy that lifts all, but the constant elevating of some at the expense of others is the issue. Who cares if more BIPOC and women become small business owners? But this idea that they can only do so if less white males are business owners is destructive. There should be room for all, and in this case, the reality is that the government destroyed everyone, not just minorities or women, but all small business owners.

Explain to me how you ensure equality by prioritizing some.

Explain why you keep distorting the content in the article? You are now trolling me in your own thread, don't you find that embarrassing?

Nowhere in the article does it suggest the bolded text above, in fact quite the opposite, it says all people should get the same access to resources.

You really are just making up your own agenda. That's fine, I'm sure a lot of people probably agree with you for all I know, but why don't you find articles that back you up rather than distort ones that don't?

I read it as the people of colour demographic is the majority, ergo needing the most help, (as they haven't had equal access as the whites have in the past - apparently, I don't know if this is true or not).

Therfore finally providing them the access they need, (whilst the whites can continue to receive the access & help they need).

So eventually everyone can 'end up' having this 'equal access' like it was supposed to be in the 1st place?

And I'm not even a lefty. Maybe I'm just a sucker? 😕

Nice deflection. Is that because you can’t defend your position?

They would need to prove this as legally this would be a major scandal if true. Again and again, the laws already existing would make such a thing illegal, highly illegal. You cannot discriminate based race, sex, etc., both enshrined as an Amendment to the US constitution and in the US Civil Rights Act.

So I suspect they're going to say that because these groups are X percent of the population but not X percent of small business owners, it proves they've been discriminated against much like they do with other quota systems.
