RIP to the hand of God.

I never forgave him for cheating in the 1986 World Cup quarter finals against England, but he definitely was the best player I ever seen play the beautiful game.

Agreed! However, I don't really blame Maradona or players in general when they instinctively 'handle' the ball. It's up to those officiating to be more attentive and correct.

He did redeem himself in the same game with what is considered the Goal of the Century. However, even that might never have happened if the referee had been... careful and honest.

Here's what happened just before Maradona got the ball.

Someone will play "don't cry for me Argentina" in his funeral but it won't stop the river of tears washing down the streets of Buenos Aires and all the lands of gauchos.

Yep, I don't think Reid looked fit. He didn't finish the game and was subbed by Chris Waddle.

I came across a nice quote by Maradona from an interview after the match.

He later complimented the fair play of the English team, saying, "I don't think I could have done it against any other team because they all used to knock you down; they are probably the noblest in the world".
