Spencer Davis R.I.P.

Spencer Davis, founder the the 60's Band " The Spencer Davis Group " has passed away age 81.

The band had a number of hit records during the mid 60's, and the band also included 14 year old Steve Winwood, who later went on to have a succesful solo career.

Their music was part of my youth.

Spencer Davis band would come into to the K52 club in Frankfurt and listen to my band, a seven piece, and since we did a cover of gimme some lovin, Stevie Winwood would get up and sing that song with us, along with a few standards of the day.
It was a great period to live in then.
R.I.P. Spencer.

Yes, a while ago now, my Avatar picture was Taken in that K52 club around 1965, and I'm there in the picture...somewhere!!

RiP Spencer Davis , I'm a Man is an infectious Blues Rock classic and Gimme Some Lovin a rock staple played and loved by many , I salute his talent as he passes on but his mark has been made.

2020 sux!!

Gummie Some Loving and I’m a Man are classic songs! There is the classic drums-bass connection that drives rock and roll, in all of its forms, to this point where songs transcend the artist and enter our collective consciousness (as a society).
