Can anyone explain to me in simple English how to expand my browser cache?? It's been set to 1GB but this keeps being filled pretty quickly and I have to keep cleaning the Cache! I would like to expand it to 10GB at least if this is possible, if not, what's the max amount of browser cahe I can have and how do I do it??

I have tried a few sites online of how to do this but on each site I was told to go to 'Advanced' settings in options and alter the cache amount to whatever I want but I don't have this 'Advanced' option, I only have 'Cookies and Site Data - Clear Data. Manage Data and Exceptions' as options and 'Advanced' isn't under any of those options.

Many Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Something doesnt sound right. What OS are you using? Windows 98?

Maybe set paging file to max or if using evil google chrome can set it to clear when you close the browser.

Firefox

1. Open Firefox
2. Type "about:config" in the address bar, without the "" and press enter.
3. Do a CTRL-F to find "browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled".
4. Change the value from True to False.
5. Close Firefox and reopen it.
6. Now do the same thing but find "browser.cache.disk.capacity".
7. Change that to whatever value you want.

Why are you filling up? I haven't in over 10 years either.

If youre saving movies, TV and videos...no wonder it fills up!!

*Fyi: save LINK to these...not the whole open site

If in fact, that's what's happening.

Good luck

Done it. Just have to wait and see what happens once cache reaches 1GB. My Browsing usually slows up but hopefully this time, that wont happen.

Cheers!

You realize the browser cache now is dynamic , right ?
Also , as more new data is utilized , the older unused stuff is discarded.

As an example , I have used my PC overnight.
My cache has only hit 1/2 gig

One could set it for a TB and still not hold over 1 GB

ok, well i did change it as instructed by Trollz above, so will see if that works, if it doesn't, I guess i'll have to leave it. Just dont understand why Browsers come with that little amount of Cache space with all that can be done online.

What exactly are you having trouble with? What are you trying to fix by changing the cache size? Have you tried using a different browser, like Chrome, to see if the issue persists in that?

It's not needed.
Gone are the days of offline browsing .

You explained that well

Sometimes I have to .
And I really know too much.
Once I retire this year , I will be able to delete 90% of the stuff from mental storage .
May even format the entire brain and start all over again.
Then I will have to Google search for answers .
Happy Days are Here Again....
