Nothing to do with this thread really but the football team I used to play for had an ex Liechenstein interantional play for us for a while.
He'd got a job in a factory in the town I live and somehow had come to play for us.
Most of us on the squad had more or less grown up together on the council estate which the team was/is based.
We also had two lads who were brothers in law who had married two sisters and moved here from Manchester and a lad who had played a handful of games
for S#horpe.
We had a relatively decent team and played one level below semi-Pro - not bad for what was essentially a bunch of mates from the same estate - and had
some absolutely cracking times together both on and off the pitch.
Many a story to tell.
We thought that the bloke from Liechenstein was going help us move up to the next level.....I'm afraid to say he was #e.
Granted it was only Liechenstein but we thought if he'd achieved an international cap he must have had something about him.....how wrong we were!
He fell over his own feet, ran around like a headless chicken and wanted to fight everyone....even his own teammates sometimes.
He loved a drink - well, we all did/do - and he was crap at that too and after a few he was either trying to embroil himself in some fisticuffs or
sleeping.
But he was a lovely guy.....just not wired up right.
I haven't seen or heard of him for donkey's years but still see lots of my old mates quite regularly.
Good times with the best of people.
ETA.
Ha ha ha.
Forgot that the ATS auto censor blanks out the word # in the town name S#horpe!
