Experts in astrology are keeping a close eye on a solar storm that is due to take place across Thursday and Friday and which could have indirect effects on the earth such as causing problems in telecommunications and electricity systems.

The solar storm is being provoked by a coronal mass ejection, a massive burst of solar wind and radiation that emanates from the sun during a period of maximum solar activity. It is anticipated this solar event could hit the earth on Thursday or Friday, according to space weather physicist Doctor Tamitha Skov. The phenomenon could also produce auroras borealis at medium-altitude range.

Solar storm headed for earth could cause black-outs

No mention of this on spaceweather.com at this time.

It is on NOAA's space weather site.

I doubt we will see black outs. But you never know, it is 2020.

Do they name solar storms like they do hurricanes?

If so, I submit we call this storm, ‘Socialism’. Because nothing causes blackouts faster than socialism

I love that website. We'll be fine for now, but it's just so interesting never the less. You can track these space objects on that website too.

Is the storm a Libra or a Leo?

Lol, that's why I checked spaceweather and NOAA. There was a CME today. Must of been from a collapsing filament. There are no sunspots right now.

Does it even matter at this point in our solar year? Our sun is asleep, and where hitting the trails of the oort cloud. There's a reason why life is so messed up, and repeats itself.

I see it, that could be what the story is talking about.

Solar wind is not the same as a CME AFAIK. NOAA does show that a CME took place today, it seems.

Pretty much yes as anything significant enough to take down our power grids can have quite the effect in other areas.

Already dealing with the COVID 19 debacle, poorly i may add, so imagine also having to cope with large scale outbreaks of cholera, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid, nevermind the other associated problems that would arise if the lights went out for any significant time period.

Right doom porn rant over now. LoL

But 2020 has been the bastard of all years has it not?

The sun is still as weak as the earth when it comes to the gravitational pull to the center of our galaxy. You know we have a black hole in the milky-way

Any potential crisis will be used for political advantage before November 4th.

There are a small amount of people who see what's going on outside of earth. Our solar system is hitting a really hard bubble in space. You know we live in a spiral galaxy right? Nothing will ever be the same. It's life. Everything changes.

There’s a reason alright... just nothing to do with the stars aligning or the month you were born.

It doesn't matter what month I was born in. We could track it based on the movement of our own sun in the galaxy. It just rotates a lot slower, and in a different manner.

Well, there's not really any normal to go back to, and quite frankly, normal was never all it was cracked up to be.

Change is inevitable and in the wind, Humanity has been rolling with it for the past 200,000 years, probably more like a couple of million. LoL

And we are still around, it's not that much of a boast really given say the time period the dinosaurs were around.

But if nature takes away all our toys, it might take us 100-1000 years to get them back, possibly 100,000 if things really do go breasts up in any sort of significant manner.
