12-year-old kid violently punched in Cape Girardeau, police search for suspect

According to police, the boy was peacefully dancing and performing on Main Street near Independence Street.

A dark colored sports utility vehicle abruptly stopped and a black male passenger got out of the car.

He quickly came over behind the 12-year-old and punched him while the kid was dancing.

Police say the juvenile was violently punched with extreme force in an unprovoked attack.

This is in my back yard. literally...makes me sick. Does this boy not matter? Why did this happen?

I will give the assailant a bit of credit for that... but not much.

An outright, you're gonna be eating through a straw for awhile, find a friend to pick your nose because all 10 digits have been snapped off, the bruises and swelling make your ethnicity a question, death may result ass whipping is called for here. No cops, no judge, no jury... just the thug perp and that young man's dad or older brother with a slapjack and an ax handle in a locked room.

Look at the kid after the hit.
He fell down a got right up and didn’t appear to be out of it.

It was either a slap or he didn’t connect very well.

Upon further researching.

Officers do have information on the identity of the suspect and also information on the vehicle he was a passenger in.
Police still encourage the public to call them if they have any information on this incident.
“This is a cowardly and disgusting act of inexcusable violence on one of our public streets and the Cape Girardeau Police would like to ensure that this suspect is safely apprehended,” Cape Girardeau Police Sgt. Joey Hann said.

Probably from intersection cameras, either way, they got this scumbags info.

That is clearly a hate crime, the epitome of a hate crime. Why isn't this being blasted coast to coast, 24 hours a day? Why haven't we burned down the liquor store and drug stores been looted? This snip makes me so angry. They're not going to stop until they get what they want.

I paused the video at the 34 second mark.
He had a clenched fist but missed the mark.
It appears the wrist made the most solid contact.


The assailant was trying to do much more damage than he did.
The kid got lucky.

And yes I have been in a few fight.. years ago cuz I’m old...
A solid knockout hit will not be stopped by adrenaline.. he just missed with his fist.

Malarkey. That was no slap by any reasonable definition. Not a PUNCH...but sure as heck not a slap. Slaps don’t knock you down, normally.

It was an open hand butt of your palm weighted total blind side.
It was capable of more than just facial injuries. The worse
of which could've been a spinal chord injury to the neck.

Sometimes others perceive us in ways that cause them to
do mean things like this. So if you put yourself out there
like this kid did. You need to pay more attention to what's
going on around you.

People are just cruel to each other. Poor kid I hope he's okay.
