oK , this is basically BS.

Known Facts:

1. Stonehenge is one of many stone circles, they were constructed by Celts and destroyed by Vikings, Saxons and Romans.

2. Stonehenge's function was to predict moon and sun eclipses as they were BIG events in Celtic mithology, as sun and moon were deepply associated with Gods.

3. In most stone circles rituals would take place, one of the most important of those rituals would be Beltane in which those in the community who were single would get naked and basically just choose a partner and have sex.

4. The importance given to fertility by Celtic people is known for a lot of time...

Why the hell would this sh*t be told like it was big news? Hell, newsagencies must have been really having somebadtimes with no interesting news, how else could this story get on cnn? oh well...

btw, the "HEY LOOK WE SOLVED THIS BIG BIG HUGE MISTERY AREN'T WE GREAT?" tone of this newspiece is absolutely disgusting.

Hey Smiley man,
Modern society isn't exactly stupid. About 1900's we were really backward, in about 100 years we have improved a lot. Even with 2 World Wars, we have overcome it. In ancient civilizations they built huge structures just to show their wealth, we don't do that nowdays. After a 1000 years, people are going to look at us and say the same thing. But we are exactly great either, one year we dropped the atom bomb on a country, another year we are friends with them.
Maybe Stonhenge was a great building, or just a useless one to them, but really great to us.

Looks like CNN removed the story from the site. Anyone have details on this? Maybe the guy making the claim got discredited?

You dug up this old fossil, and can't even add to the thread?

Actually when I saw the title, I thought this was something new.

Besides, it wasn't "perverted English men from todays world" who made those. It was perverted druids.

Yes, cnn has removed the page. Fortunatly, the same article can be found in CBC news abd BBC:

www.cbc.ca.../2003/07/09/stonehenge03 0709

Celts where not "English"..

doesnt matter what they were they didn't build stonehenge
the Celts arrived in England around 500bce
stonehenge construction started around 3200bce
so close but no cigar
neither was the henge constructed for the use of druids
as they also arrived with the celts
the idea that druids had something to do with it was discredited about 125 years ago so nice to see you guys are keeping up to date

and Dragonlike
both those articles were rubbish
Gordon pipes performed his experiment to prove he knew the secret two years ago
he failed
the other article was hilarious
heres why
the ideas came from

Anthony Perks, a retired professor of obstetrics and gynecology

he got the idea by

watching a television documentary on the mysteries of Stonehenge

and suddenly he is called a

Canadian researcher

basically the guy has spent his entire life looking at womens genitals
and now hes starting to see them everywhere
I'd love to see the headlines that some of the english papers would give this if it were actually mainstream news

giant phallic shaped objects aid fertility

Gynaecology the past the present

fishy solution to stonehenge fadge monument

Its hardly perverted to speculate on the meaning of ancient rituals, and sex would obviously be pretty important to ancient societies.

Marduk,
what the heck are you talking about?

The news link isn't even valid anymore.
said dirty_underground, so i provided two similar links!!!

Marduk,
what the heck are you talking about

you posted two links claiming they were the same as the original one posted
the first one was
about a canadian guy who had spent his whole life looking at womans genitals who has come up with a theory that stonehenge is aalso a womans genitals

and the other link about gordon pipes
his website can be found here
www.stonehengetheanswer.com...
funnily enough the claims that he made in 2003 that he had solved the stonehenge enigma is not something hes claiming after the fact when he proved to the world that he hadnt
despite which there is no stonehenge enigma as regards the transport of the stones
archaeologists know exactly where the stones came from and how they were transported to the site
they also know what stonehenge was built for (allegedly)
its only pseudo crackpots that suddenly claim otherwise usually at the same time they are proclaiming a new theory which is often accompanied by a book
I know someone who claims that stonehenge was a giant incubator for aliens from the pleaides to hatch their alien offspring
when someone comes up with an idea nuttier than that I'll let you know
in the meantime you could read this book
www.amazon.co.uk...=8-1/qid=1171793908/ref=sr_1_1/026-1150545-6319662?ie=UTF8&s=books
it won the british archaeology press award
it crosses all the t's and dots all the i's on this question

This is the original article:

www.cnn.com..." target="_blank" class="postlink">CNN - Stonehenge riddle 'solved.' It's a girl

I believe it makes a lot of sense to think the ancients would build giant monuments such as Stonehenge to worship Mother Nature. Although I do have to stretch my imagination quite a bit to be able to recognize any female genitalia in the rather circular Stonehenge.

you can read the full article here
www.jrsm.org...
doesnt seem to have been mentioned much in the last four years though
I found this statement by the articles author very telling

Archaeology and history must rest on evidence rather than speculation. We can offer no clear evidence

if thats what hes saying himself you can imagine what experts on british archaeology are saying about it

Sure, Celts was late, the real stonehenge builder was the real english men, the rest are pseudo-science.
Everbody was late unless it is english men.

By the way, does english men know how to write CAPITAL letter?
