OH, oh, oh, okay. I'm not as confused as I was 30 minutes ago.

WIS, wishing you a happy birthday and wishing that each day is better than the next one too.

Argh, the cat has been banished to the basement at least for tonight, but maybe until his vet appointment (hopefully we can be squeezed in early this coming week) Don't fret, the basement's finished & heated-- though it can get pretty chilly down there, it can also be warmed up nicely by jacking up the furnace temp upstairs. So the basement's fairly temperate right now, but the first floor is comparatively hot (in the mid-70's now instead of low 60's) That brings the basement up to the mid to upper 60's. Though later in the week, it's supposed to get colder and I might have to jack it up further to compensate if he has to stay down there. Bottom line is, he's not going to freeze down there, our gas bill is just going to spike is all.

Anyway, he's in there because he just cannot be trusted to not crap or pee where he isn't supposed to -- bathroom floor, kitchen floor, stairs, behind the recliner by the fireplace, in front of the younger kid's door -- which is his favorite spot to foul up aside from IN her room. That doesn't happen in there anymore, she keeps her door shut tight now. For some reason, that poor girl is public enemy number one and we cannot figure out why, she's practically Dr Doolittle with animals, they flock to her (even the wild chickadees sit on her outside! Total Snow White imitation!) We're utterly baffled as to this ill-tempered sudden change lately in his liking of her, it makes no sense. She's not mean to him or any other animal. Or even bugs, the kid is gentle with BUGS, too. It just makes zero sense.
His messes elsewhere in the house I know full well were out of sheer "F you!" defiance, because he always did it immediately after yowling in the kitchen for food well before mealtimes & getting told "no".

So instead of following him around like a chaperone all day anymore in the HOPES of catching him before he squats somewhere, hubs and I decided he's staying in the basement tonight, and maybe until his vet visit if the attitude doesn't change. If he wants to crap or pee on the floor to make a statement, it's a painted concrete floor, it can be cleaned very easily. The carpet, not so much, that's time consuming as hell to get the odor totally out of.

He's not shut down there & ignored, the door is right next to the kitchen table, so he's constantly being talked to by one person or another at the table through the door. And I'm running down there to do laundry often, hubs & the older kid go down to sit with him (younger one is still very upset with being targeted) so he's getting his people time. But man, is he ever displeased with this arrangement, and being very vocal about it (he hates the basement as it is)

We'll let him upstairs tomorrow and see if his pooping & peeing behavior continues. If it doesn't, he's good to go, maybe he just needed a "time out" or put in his pecking order place or something. If it does continue, he's just going to have to learn to deal with it down there for the week until the vet can check him out.

LOL!

Don't you get it yet? Children are terrible but animals can be awful!

Let me put it another way. When's the last time you caught "Little Darling" (one of your children) taking a sneaky dump behind the sofa while no one was looking?

"What are you doing..?"

Lol, that they can be XD He's an older cat, 15 years old, so he very well could have some underlying health issue and he's just venting at one specific person for some reason, or he may have a touch of feline dementia (though he doesn't have any actual symptoms of that) Point is, it's very out of character for him, so he needs seen -- something is probably going on. The vet office has us penned in as an immediate appointment if someone cancels their appointment before ours, they're just booked solid through most of March right now.

Virtually the only funny thing about this is we found out that Bert is a total snitch bunny. When the cat pooped behind the recliner, Bert was desperately trying to get our attention to follow him over there, and got all worked up like, "You see this? You see what the cat did? I didn't do this, he did it!" XD He also alerted us to a couple of sneak-pees in front of the younger kid's door in the same manner, lol.

Poor kitty.

Something is wrong.

Seems odd that it would be his behavior all of a sudden. You've had him for years? I know you take good care of your animals, so I hope this is resolved soon so you can come and give us an update.

I'm rooting for you fur baby.

Hahaha, Burt the snitch bunny. Smart little thing.

I'm surprised your vet didn't make an emergency appointment for you. With his unusual behavior and being an elderly cat, they should have. I would switch vets.

Had him since he was a kitten, so over 14 years

The vet practice is the same one Bert's vet is with, they're truly fantastic people. When they're booked completely like this, they refer out to other vets for emergency appointments, which is fine, but the one they referred us to when I called last week, if we felt we really wanted him seen immediately, is both nowhere near here and pretty expensive (would also have to do a full "new client" check-up, which costs much more than annuals for some reason) Otherwise, in dire/severe situations, they tell you to go to the emergency hospital for immediate thorough care.

I'm fairly confident they can squeeze us in somehow next week, be it between appointments or in a canceled appointment's slot. Or maybe early before they open up, they HAVE let Bert in really early before they even opened, after his first bout of tummy trouble to check on him, so I'd imagine if they feel the cat needs to go in immediately, they might say "Come in at 6:30 tomorrow morning ASAP" That was the rabbit/small pets vet's decision, though, not the feline vet, I really don't know if they'd do that like Bert's vet would.

When I called last week, it was about his always being hungry. He's gotten used to the food they suggested like the vet said he would (no more kibble, does NOT agree with him), and stopped the "I'M STARVING HERE!" yowling, but he's started up on the "OMG, this is so good, GIVE ME ALL OF IT!" yowling. It does smell really good to a human nose, so it's got to smell indescribably good to a cat's.

Seeing as how I haven't called in a week, it's not like they aren't being attentive to us, I just haven't called in the behavior changes yet (so no need to shop around for a new vet practice) By the time I though about calling yesterday, it was after closing, so since they're closed on Sundays like pretty much every other vet around here, I have to wait until Monday to call and relay the behavior changes in the last few days and see what they say knowing about that coupled with his initial hunger deal. Otherwise, his scheduled appointment is March 2, so only a week's wait at most.

He's been using his litter box in the basement, he hasn't pooped or peed on the floor at all down there (yet, anyway) I was just down there getting his cat bed out of the dryer (washed & fluffed it up for him) and did a thorough inspection. He's very pouty, but otherwise seems fine.

You absolutely can do it, Fin. I think you should work on building new things for yourself. New friends maybe? New creative projects or outlets of some kind. Just some suggestions.

That is crucial.

From personal past experiences i have learned, that i can't just quit an addiction and go on from there. It leaves a void, and the same addiction crawls back into my life very easily. What i have been able to do, though, is to replace the harmful addiction with things that are more healthy for me, more productive, and just overall more enjoyable in general.

Therefore, your suggestion has been noted, and i accept it, to emphasize my own beliefs.

Now it has just been online stuff. I have been learning about nutrition. I already knew the basic ideas. But now that meat has been absent from my menu since December, i try to check out where to get some needed vitamins, amino acids and whatnot. Also, some days ago i was at my friend's place, and he got some kind of medieval study audio playing. A researcher from university of Helsinki spoke. He quoted Cicero, who was a Roman statesman, lawyer and philosopher during the ancient times. And now i have been researching Cicero's quotes online by myself. A very wise man who also seemed to have genuine good wish towards humanity.

Also i would like to fully master English prepositions. We don't have them here, we add things to the ends of our words. For example "For Lonecloudhopper" would be "Lonecloudhopperille" here. And sometimes i am not sure if i should use in, on, at, of etc.

WOW! Excellent song and excellent video. But i think i did not get the video the way it was intended originally. The young girl athlete really focused first... looked at herself, the mirror thing, rubbing her hand against her other hand, super focus right there. I get that she fell. Twice. But i think those falls were elegant and smooth. I would be thinking otherwise if the falls looked like she had hurt herself, then, i would dislike due to my empathy thing which i always have going on. I understand that it is a music video, it is art, but WTH is wrong with the ones sitting in the crowd laughing at her in contempt. I mean come on! I have way more respect for those who try and fail, than for those who sit idly and do nothing but laugh at those who give everything they have and then fail. Thank you for sharing.

I just had a really good sauna. It is not always that pleasant, and i can never know beforehand but this was great. For me, sauna is all about feeling good physically and mentally. Then at some point, after enough of sitting there on the benches and putting water on the sauna stove stones creating steam, it becomes unpleasant. At that point, i am out of there. It (sauna) is not about who is the "toughest" man or "toughest" woman. It is about relaxing. And also my hair felt greasy so i had to do something about that and i used some shampoo. A couple of sauna beers now and i mean really not much of it.

This is what i am listening to right now:

That sucks. My family used to have a black and white kitty we named Zorro because he liked leaving his little zeds over the floor. Fortunately, he grew out of it. Not sure what to recommend with a cat that doesn't grow out of it. Must be articles on this matter on different websites.
