The last few months I noticed a shift in the headlines of the Drudge Report. I found myself going there less because of this.

Yesterday I saw a post on Reddit saying it changed hands. But, it was conjecture based on Wikipedia, as in the way the Wikipedia for Matt Drudge was was worded re. his editing/ownership of Drudge- past tense.

Today I did some minor digging and here’s what I found.

On December 7th, it was rumored that he sold the Drudge Report and is no longer its editor. [1]

Wiki

If you follow the [1]source it leads you to a series of tweets by Rasmussen Reports:

A Story Matt Drudge Would Crack: We have no special knowledge of why The Drudge Report has changed so noticeably. But it has. Today we published 3 short "Backstory" Tweets highlighting why we believe Mr. Drudge is no longer managing the site. See our timeline for all 3.

And:

We don't think Matt is there anymore, CFP. Word is he sold, just waiting for confirmation. Now that will be a story. BTW, you are the guy to catch.

Rasmussen Twitter

Curious if you all know any more details on this. It could be a speculative rumor but to me I wouldn’t be surprised as I’ve noticed a “shift”. I chalked it up to Drudge having a paradigm shift or change of some kind.

Drudge has changed.

The impeachment headlines alone were snip.

The Drudge you use to know is no longer.

Been that way for the past year or so.. Also the amount of misdirects from some of drudges sources to browser hijacks got so ridiculous that you would have to mouse over to see the link so as to not be directed to one the malicious sites.

I noticed the change of tone as to what was being linked. As well, some of the articles were leading to complete ###% such as BUZZFEED....???

And also the introduction almost daily of a link highlighting some terrible tragedy involving animals. That is something I personally cannot stomach (or heart). Daily Mail does that regularly and it feels like social engineering.

My question is- aren’t these records public? Shouldn’t there be a way to know who is the owner?

If this has happened, could the entire site have become a tool to lull its users into some sort of ideological submission?

I’m just a humble girl trying to protect my brain.

Drudge and buzzfeed are pretty similar. They both are questionable sources known for running iffy stories.

Fortunately, I caught your comment before you deleted... and that was pretty darn cool to see! He knew he'd be removed and planned his outburst accordingly, loud and clear voice, succinct message. I loved it!

Thanks for posting

Drudge was and is just a compilation of news, they don't do articles themselves. So to my knowledge, they are nothing like Buzzfeed. But I have noticed a shift to the left recently.

Right, it's an aggregate.

But they still decide what gets put there yea?

I still think that a lot of the headlines there come from dodgy sources.

You mean like that news site ATS?

I don’t really see the similarity. I’ve always seen buzzfeed as a troll run by a bunch of brats, possibly, writing articles to co-sign the bs of the left. I always saw Drudge as an aggregate that was kind of on the right-side of moderate.

Now it seems to have an agenda. That’s just my personal experience with the two over the years. That being said, I haven’t visited buzzfeed since 2012 until accidentally being subjected to it via Drudge!

I mean, you're not wrong.

Though in context, members decide what content is posted here as opposed to a site who has a staff who decides what content goes up. One is also trying to be more legit than another.

Either way, I am skeptical when I go to an aggregate, or ATS for that matter.

Hell, I've accidentally posted bad info on here myself.

Drudge Report has been throwing punches at Trump since the day he entered. Every now and then they will throw him a bone but more like chicken wing bones. Pretty much a full frontal assault on him with large, red degrading headlines and snarky historical pics that have nothing to do with anything other than getting the right facial expression from say 3 years ago to overlay a current article. It's trash.

Also lots of fake news and harmful spam on it. Breitbart took over the old Drudge work and made it better. Reason why the left media doesn't talk about Drudge anymore. It's Breitbart they constantly attack.

From Drudge.

The Founding Fathers were obsessed with impeachment.

and the link goes to yahoo, and the 'article' is from Bloomberg Opinion.

Can't get any more agenda than that.
