Jesse Young looked down at the blank lottery filling out card and trembled at the thought of spending two dollars on something that was most likely
not going to give back. But she was desperate. There was barely enough food in her home for her five children and the two meagre paying jobs she had
barely covered the rent for the dive they called home. But soon they may not have a home as she was told by one of her employees today that they would
be moving and would no longer require her services as their cleaning woman.
So it was with desperate shaky hands that Jesse slowly picked the six numbers to make her ticket. As she slowly ticked off the numbers of her
children’s birthdays, she thought of the young female fetus she had aborted . She had called this fetus Angela, and at difficult times had asked the
young soul to pray for her family. With a fervour , Jesse did so once again as she ticked off the date of the abortion as the final number. “Please
Angela, help us dear, with your prayers.” Biting back tears , Jesse payed for the ticket and waited for the draw that evening.
Jesse shook as each number ball popped out of the machine that evening. One by one her numbers came up with the final one drawn being Angela’s
number. Jesse broke down in sobs of relief. Not so much for the enormous jackpot as she would have been happy with far less, but because to her it
felt like an affirmation that her aborted daughter had forgiven her and had interceded for her and her family before God. This alone meant the world
to Jesse and she continued to sob quietly.
As Jesse thought about what she would do with all that money a wonderful idea came to mind. She would start a foundation for women who wanted to
keep their children but were afraid they would not be able to afford it. Helping mothers in any way so they aquire good education and decent housing
for their families. Maybe it would stop scared young women from aborting their children and give them a leg up in life.
Jesse smiled at her idea and thought perhaps Angela had helped plant it. “ Thank you Angela, thank you”
The End
