They were so close but lost contact just before landing. Always sad when any country misses an opportunity to show us the spectacles of space.

Not much more to add other than it sucks the lander didn't make it.

Here's a video of the prime minister consoling the mission leader. I can't even begin to imagine how he feels after years of work on the project.

A few quick facts:

- Lost contact 2.1km over the surface after several rounds around the moon.
- Similar to Israels landing program, shortly before landing something failed or happened. Indias program was much more sophisticated and still failed due to yet unknown reasons.
- The target destination was south pole because they hoped to find millenia old ice in the everlasting shadows of the craters there.
- They had not only the lander but a rover, too.
- Canceled a press conference to look at the data.
- They have no clue yet if it landed automatic or not and obviously trying to make contact now.

Heard it on the radio in the afternoon.

Could NASA of placed a jamming device on the surface to keep others from landing and finding out what NASA does not want any others to discover?

That's because they are in on the secret of what is/was there

Nothing to thank for, it was not much of a hassle, I just wrote down from my memory.

Hm, I do not know much about jamming devices except they overload the frequencies somehow. Like using several handheld radios on the same frequency all sending garbage, kind of way.

By logic again, you would need one of those radios for every frequency used? Not sure.

Also, would be a big jamming device I guess. Would it be detectable from earth, once it starts jamming? Maybe others know more.

Powering it and all that...it is a entertaining conspiracy idea but unlikely, if I think twice. But that is my humble opinion.

did the US have this problem with the lunar lander of the 1960s-1970's. Could they of planted a full spectrum radio jammer to selective decide who gains information on the moon? Could China of gained this information on the jamers and circumvented the jamming? How much info did they steal or were given by Clinton?

Could China be behind this?
What if: lasers?

Add: I have gained knowledge that china is big on laser defense.

Have there been any reports of China having problems sending and receiving information from their devices on the lunar surface?

Ha, seen that before 5 times trying to land on Mars.....

Tell me, was there seen a giant shadow engulfing right at the last second?

No idea. I feel I need to point out that I am maybe the most clueless person in this thread. I just relayed what I heard on radio but I do feel flattered

My point was that since China is big in laser defense... laser on the ground... shooting on a fast moving target...

However I do not think this is the case. It is most likely just a failure. We will never know though...

IIRC didn't the same exact thing happen to the Israeli mission a while back?

It's certainly possible, and if it really has been done, then NO ONE except for a very tiny amount of people would have any knowledge of such a classified mission like that, or be included in the loop.
I would say this mission just had a glitch though, and not sabotage.

Well look on the bright side, now they have time and can concentrate there efforts on more close to home issues, like say...Oh say this, and many other more such issues.
