The idea that they put a woman in that role is a test to see how audiences receive the idea of a potential woman as Bond though just by letting her be 007 if not Bond.
100% speculation on your part.
Tell that to Dr. Who.
The Docto is a alien time traveller who reincarnates in different bodies.
Anyone getting hung up on what gender they appear as is seriously missing the point.
I could have cared less if the writing wasn't so bloody awful.

And you still don't seem to be getting that this[/b still is a Bond movie whose main character is Bond played by Daniel Craig.
The new character replaces bond as 007 in the movie. It's part of the plot.
Clearly she is not going to be the next bond as she is not called Bond and appears in the movie with Bond.

And in the film the new "Bond" becomes Lashana Lynch.
screenwriter Phoebe Waller-Bridge intervened to pass the torch on to the star.
"There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says 'Come in 007,' and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman," a Bond insider claimed. "It's a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he's been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman."
The insider claims that the "Bond 25" script will maintain all of the classic Bond elements, including action and fight scenes with star Daniel Craig, while also tackling the super-spy's role in the #MeToo era — but with an injection of humor over overt preaching.

If they want a black woman to be a spy create a new franchise.

My point exactly. Their special was down about 30%. It was not a Christmas special because they don't want to do anything with Christmas, the season was about PC inclusiveness by their own admission, that's not my synopsis, that is what they said.
Which is forgivable if the writing was good, it was terrible.
