Liziqi is a chinese lady that strives for the best in this world by using mind and body to live one with nature. This I feel not only can enrich our own well being but that of our planet. In this video she demonstrates how easy it is to build furniture using bamboo.

Bamboo is an amazing plant. Not only is it one of the fastest growing plants in the world (some species grow three feet each day). It can used for building, flooring, cloths, or even as food. Bamboo absorbs carbon dioxide and releases 30% more oxygen into the atmosphere than hardwood trees. So by demanding bamboo you can help increase its demand.

I hope you enjoy watching Liziqi. She is on a completely different level...

Bamboo houses are only limited by the imagination...

My hope one day is to build a bicycle out of bamboo.

Wow that’s wifey material

Yes, it's amazing how expensive it can be, especially for something that grows so easily, and fast.

For those who have gardens, and access to bamboo, it is wonderful for supporting climbing plants.

I cut pieces into lengths approximately 8 feet.
I make sure I use the part of the bamboo where the limbs come out.

I cut off the majority of the limb, leaving about a 4 inch stub.
I then make a tripod. It costs me nothing, and is amazingly strong.

Where the branch connects to the main truck, it comes out at approximately a 45 degree angle. If a person has ever tried to pull down on a branch, and break it off, it's virtually impossible.

In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful, amazing plants, on this planet.

Between bamboo and hemp there's no reason to be chopping down the forests.

I have researched in the past and even deeper after viewing this thread. I live in zone 3/4 so I don't see how it's possible. We frequently have open winters with -35F. I did review the fast growing bamboo but it seems it has to be established. Thanks though.

I do think it can be a great cash crop and I'm surprised more people aren't growing and selling it. I guess maybe the demand isn't there??? but from my reading about it, it seems to be a good income source with little effort. I had checked it out for that purpose but because of my locale, not gonna happen.

Yes Li Ziqi is quite a woman. She has only been on YouTube a year and already achieved 5 million subscribers. So even though her youth was poor it made her into what she is today, A very sensational lady. There is a web page here if you want read more about her.

Bamboo bikes are very light but they also have an amazing ability to absorb vibration. Some riders have commented that their bamboo bikes are surprisingly quite and smooth to ride. tests indicate bamboo is 200% more effective than aluminium in absorbing vibration.

Thanks for all your replies Silcone Synapse. You are a champ.

That is a good vid.

For anyone who is interested in a good (pre modern civilisation)old You Tube channel :

www.youtube.com...

This is a goldmine of ancient solutions.

Please look at this, its worth your time I promise.

Living simple and hard working like this is the KEY to happiness.

Lack a sense of purpose?
Modern world not quite doing it for you?
You are not alone.

Be free.
Imagine-All your work efforts go to your family.
All your energy-
Working for you and your family, not some corporation or government.

Guess what-Humans lived like that for hundreds of thousands of years.

To be free is not easy in todays world.
it never was.

But nothing worth fighting for is ever free.
There is always a cost.

Thanks. Yes: have watched a whole bunch of that guy's vids before, and even posted them on ATS previously, to to rousing crickets... LoL!

There is something so amazing, appealing, enthralling about those kinds of vids.
Even if we are just dreaming it all from an urban apartment, in northern lands.

Have appreciated all of your comments in this thread.

I feel humbled.

As I was working today,i was thinking of this thread, and it occured to me that we have not yet mentioned another awesome use of Bamboo-textiles.

When used to make clothes, bamboo textile is supposed to feel softer than cotton on your skin.
Its stronger and more durable than cotton.
It is up to 3X more absorbant than cotton,so you keep cooler when its hot.
It has antibacterial properties,so it keeps you fresh for longer than cotton/synthetic clothing.

And as for growing the bamboo-this is a serious win win situation with regards to CO2 capturing:

"Bamboo minimises CO2 and generates up to 35% more oxygen than equivalent stands of trees.
One hectare of bamboo sequesters 62 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year while one hectare of young forest only sequesters15 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year."

en.wikipedia.org...

Lots of interesting info on that wiki page.

I am now going to look for moso bamboo seeds on the net,or if I can't find,I will ask one of my Chinese buddies to get his family to post me some.

I have a swamp near my house that is crying out for some 25 + metre bamboo groves.

I live in a bamboo patch in Texas that covers about 3 or 4 acres.
An isolated jungle right in the middle of the city.
I am very careful to keep my spot secret.

It requires a lot of water, which is why it's so often grown in wet humid parts of the world. In other dry areas of the world, if it's a choice between people or plants getting the water, it will probably be people.

It's good stuff, but because of the shipping costs if there is a reasonable, less expensive alternative available nearby (i.e. wood), then it will not be the first choice for building materials. So no bamboo house frames in the US anytime soon.

who are you to decide if shes for me or not, that is to start with
and who mentioned cooking?
do you not understand the way of life?
couples look after each other, a man works and earn money to support his house, a wife in a normal world will support the house by raising the children during the absence of the father (during his working hours) and being creative like the woman in the video.
you dont know anything about my life as a muslim, i support my house %100 while my wife is in comfort, she did raise my kids and i praise her for that, i provided her with every thing she needed with no complaint because that was my JOB as a husband, and in return i got a wonderful kids, thats what you call a wonderful return and which i call an achievement.

i do not repress my wife, she is part of my life and love her she is part of my family, good bless her and what ever she did

and by the way i bought her a car and she can go anywhere she wants

Perfection: are we not dreaming when we contemplate perfection?

Let's change the subject.
Okay.

Are there any natural, or human-made oasis in the UAE, where bamboo is grown?

But how do you preserve it if used outside?, inside seems to be ok with normal wax. But the UV seems to get to it after a few years.
