I'm just confused with how they call this the first woman to play a male lead. The reason this person has the part is because "she" has a male singing voice thanks to "her" male anatomy. It's not like there was a pure woman out there who naturally developed a baritone singing voice and earned this part. Ain't no glass ceiling been broke. Perhaps we can say the cling wrap has been stretched here.

Ah, but that woman didn't audition for and play a male lead in an opera. If she had, she truly would have been the first woman playing a male lead in an opera now wouldn't she, having come by her baritone voice naturally, and not because she's masquerading as a biological sex she's not.
