The DOJ (Mueller) investigation of Christopher Steele was dropped.
Lindsey Graham and Chuck Grassley sent a criminal referral of Chris Steele to Rosenstein/Mueller in January 2018; however the case was used as a shield to ward-off FOIA inquiry, but the case was never actually pursued – and eventually dropped.
Additionally, with hindsight and a greater understanding of the Mueller team corruption, we can see how this specific referral hits the center of the FBI intent around their Russia collusion-conspiracy.
The issue surrounds the October 2016 Carter Page FISA application, and how the Steele Dossier was used therein.

I hope he's the man who can restore a least a little bit of my confidence in our government, particular in the judicial branch; because, frankly, I have none left.

I can't wait for the movie.
In a surprising last minute twist our assumed anti-hero Donald Trump and his lackey Attorney General William Barr are in fact found to be Russian Spys when a low ranking FBI agent on the verge of retiring, played by Harrison Ford, discovers the body of Seth Rich buried on the grounds of the Mar-a-Lago Club after being tipped off by Julian Assange whom the FBI agent was charged to escort during Assange's extradition to the United States.
After discovering the body and the secrets it reveals the FBI agent finds himself in the fight for his life not knowing who to trust and who might be trying to kill him. In the end he must come to accept the aid of John McCain, whom the world thought was dead after the Senateor faked his own death to protect the secrets he had on Trump, Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Together Ford and McCain tople the house of cards in DC sending dozens of high ranking officials to prison for high crimes... but not before they accidentally blow up the Capital Building in a herowing escape from Nacy Police, the master mind behind the whole scandal.
In the end as the now retired Ford packs up his desk he finds a post it note signed by a man claiming to be the real Seth Rich warning him not to trust now President McCain... and the credits role to Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A.".
Attorney General William Barr issued a statement Thursday praising Liu and saying she "would have made an outstanding associate attorney general." "Jessie Liu is one of the finest, most impressive people serving in the Department of Justice," Barr said the statement, adding that he would appoint her to be chairwoman of his advisory committee. While Liu was confirmed as US attorney for DC by voice vote in September 2017, her nomination as associate attorney general faced opposition from Utah GOP Sen. Mike Lee, among others, making a successful path to confirmation a difficult prospect, according to a source familiar with the situation. Barr personally made the case for Liu with Lee, but the Utah Republican refused to budge.
