Something in the pull of her eyes, an almost imperceptible lift in the corners of her mouth, had emboldened me. I approached as compelled and spoke, took her hand. We danced till midnight, when at once she fled. Weeks hence, terrified I’ve been charmed, I’m tormented nightly by phantom arms.

But seriously:

Your story sparked up an idea for a perfect story.
But alas! I've shot my wad
for this month's contest.
Wish I had a do-over of my first entry.

It would be mean to post another,
stealing ideas from someone else,
sucking away their chances.

Thanks
I started with an entirely different piece in mind but when I wrote that line, I had to change the rest to keep it!

Yeah, I used to run away too when I was young because one person's emboldenment is another person's 'no thanks'. It makes one suspicious as to why someone is too empassioned..."lack of control over oneself"?

Haha aint that the truth?
I found myself wondering about what type of character the woman was, and what caused the sudden flight, as I wrote.
I might write a sequel from her point of vew.

I find it quiet remarkable. It capture's a set of moments of utter torment that began so beautifully.

It leaves me questioning, of how he will ever find her. Why did she run off?

Very suspicious story.
