From the article:

The commandant of the Marines has warned the Pentagon that deployments to the southwest border and funding transfers under the president's emergency declaration, among other unexpected demands, have posed “unacceptable risk to Marine Corps combat readiness and solvency.”

LA Times

Wow... So the Top General, the dude responsible for the entire USMC, is saying that they are facing solvency and combat readiness issues because of the redirection of funds to the border with mexico....

Something stinks...

Top tier Pentagon officials are essentially just unelected politicians and no politician is going to be happy when their program sees a reduction in funding for any reason. The commandant has dusted off his salesman cap and placed it on his head as would be expected. If a need arises for the Corps to see a battlefield, he knows as well as everyone else does, the funds will be immediately provided by Congress and approved by this Administration as has long been the case. In other words, he's whining for more money.

He's right, so congress should stop with the flip flopping politicizing of our border security and fund the wall like they have already voted to do many times in the past.

Maybe he and John Brennan are tight.

John voted once for the Communist party.

Or he could just be a Democrat.

The lines between communism and social Democrat are getting pretty blurred...

To the OP, the others on the thread are correct.

First bullet that goes from south of the border into the CONUS, the coffers will open and away we go.

He's whining for money.

Most who have served in the Military called "songbird" McCain a traitor when he was alive... a Progressive POS.

No wonder the left loved him... except when he tried to run for President, of course... then he was a POS to the left too.

Hypocrisy?

LOL

One the one hand.

It's a bad idea to use the military to enforce domestic problems.

Ideally it should be the national guard supplementing federal leo, and other organisations.

That Marine Corp commandant is just shaking his cup for mo money.

Lume might be Trumps puppy, but Lume NEVER lied about being a delegate like you did!

You flat out lied, so you have no moral high ground to stand upon and judge Lume as you are doing now.

But if you insist on continuing doing so, by all means do it! I use the hypocrisy and lies to gather votes to defeat those you support!

The Marine Corp commandant is upset that he'll only get $92 Billion to spend, instead of $93 Billion, due to the reallocation of some funds. When you get that high up, you're 90% bureaucrat. He's probably a Democrat, at that.

Politics had nothing to do with my reply. Show me the head of any agency, department, or service branch that hasn't played the "OMG, our mission will be threatened!! DOOM!! DOOM!!! DOOOOOOMMMM!!!!" the moment their funds were reduced by any administration or act of Congress. Go, find me one... we have nothing but time.

And McCain... I can (and have) shown you posts from me dating back 9+ years on ATS in which I displayed nothing but contempt for the son of a bitch. He wasn't an American hero, he was a manipulative war monger who worked an angle to go unquestioned for by the establishment media and most of DC for decades. There is no "disparaging" of the man's memory where I'm concerned, as my memory of him was already the memory of a pile of reeking # sitting in the sunny desert of Arizona attracting flies and sycophantic ass kissers who finally saw an opportunity to shmooze a *ahem* "war hero" for social virtue points despite not actually supporting any of the few good things he did while in the armed service (but well prior to him cracking and singing the VC's victmhood praises on Radio Hanoi like a pig stuck under a gate.)

I only stoop low to ensure you can hear me because your arms are far to short to be trying to box with God, my friend.

Glad to see someone else with the ballz to call McCain a Son of a Bitch.

Poor John, screwed over so many people while he was alive he is now bent over on a breeding bench paying his dues for his failures in the pits of hell.

Honestly trying to figure out why I typed that being I don't believe in it, but I guess believing that traitor is suffering will work for me.

I would suggest to the Commandant , as a former combat Marine myself, that stretching ourselves thin over too many fronts, and prolonged occupation on foreign soil, not to mention not having enough of the fleet in our own homeland is what is affecting our combat readiness.......

perhaps he should take a look at that........

If appointed in the Obama admin, it could be possible.
