When a Democrat, does something stupid, Democrats ask them to step down. When a Republican does something stupid, the GOP, defends them. Just why is that? It has happened time and time again.

Because in general those not on the left do not promote destroying someones career and life over some dumb snip they did or said in their early years.

Democrat Fascists who weaponized what people did when they were young and stupid don't have much of a choice other than to eat their own otherwise they look like hypocrites!

So you're saying that anyone who has ever said or done something stupid, should lose their job.

What you said was very stupid.

You're fired.

If I was a soldier abroad fighting in a borderline, if not illegal war, part of me would be super pissed that back home people jump to the opportunity to dig up decade old dirt on politicians and give it more attention than pressing issues.

That isn't a knock at anyone in this thread discussing this, as I know most you of you all comment on other pressing matters and we are just having fun here...

But seriously, outlets pick this stuff up and run with it like it's gold.

To be honest, Black Face was a entertainment caricature for a very long time. This caricature was used by both whites and blacks in performing, or costumes to demonstrate an extreme. There are a lot of extreme caricatures out there, but just recently the Black Face has been labeled as racist and so we need to go back 70 years and see if ANYONE has ever used this caricature in a skit or costume and then brand them a racist!!!

But it's also been regarded as racist for a long time. I grew up in the 1980's and even then going blackface would have been unthinkably racist.

And if the mission is ridding ourselves of racism, is the best approach to drudge up the past under the scope of the present to re-examine it?

I may be wrong here, but maybe the direction to take is forward, not backwards.... I've been wrong before and maybe I am here.

That isn't to absolve the past, it's just to say we can make our own future.

Makes sense. Virginian Democrat politicians who might as well be in favor of post term abortions also have lots of black face in their history. Of course, black women have higher rates of abortions than other races, so it fits into their hidden narrative. Im just saying... black face and killing black babies. Makes sense.

The goal isn't to stomp out racism. Its to yell "GOTCHA" at political rivals.

That would be a better question for the liberal MSM.

Someone wise once said that if you are 50 and you haven't changed since you were 20, then you haven't learned anything.

People change, people do stupid crap all the time. People grow.

To punish people for this is the very essence of "thought-police".

Something Orwell once warned us about.

Sad our political state of affairs is a game of survival and not competition.

The guy with the possible assault charge is more serious (IMO) than any idiot that wore black face in the 1980's... considering the time there is a good chance they were high as a kite on something during that period.

Horsecrap. They all do it. Its why we are discussing a gotcha about a democrat in blackface.

Virginia is governed by a reverse oreo.

Two racist wafers and a creamy rapist filling.

Part of me thinks this is an internal coup.

I don't know who the belligerents are, but some of this should have surfaced during opposition research before the election.

Thing is, the person making the accusation has the same lawyer as Christina Blasey Ford. (Purely a coincidence, I'm sure.) So we can fairly safely assume her accusation is politically-motivated BS. I think the Lt. Gov. might be right: the governor probably arranged the assault accusation in an attempt to fend off people calling for his resignation.

Only reason I even have one iota of a care in these cases is because they've called Republicans unfit for office for things they did back in the 70's. Now it's biting them in their own ass. Outside of that, their pasts should have never been a big deal.

Democrats have a history of accusing Republicans of the same thing they have been guilty of. It's called using projection to reduce self guilt and remorse.

Dude was in high school and did something that wasn't polarized and hurtful to sensitive feelings back then. What was stupid about it?
