Listening to these cats today, great Saturday afternoon jamming, and thought I'd share the grooves with those here that are interested in some funky instrumentalists. The first time I heard them was the song Nervous and I immediately google-fued the band and began to love everything that followed.
A British band, they began their mix in the beginning of this century with front man Eddie Roberts on the axe, drummer Simon Allen ,bassist Pete Schand and Joe Tatton on keys. They also incorporate flutes, trumpets and sax.

Some of their mixes with other musicians:

As a band, and as individuals, the New Mastersounds have collaborated with an array of musicians DJs and producers, including: Soul Rebels Brass Band, Lou Donaldson (Blue Note), Corinne Bailey Rae (EMI), Quantic (Tru Thoughts), Carleen Anderson (Young Disciples / Brand New Heavies), Keb Darge & Kenny Dope (Kay Dee Records), John Arnold (Ubiquity), Mr Scruff (Ninja Tuna), Snowboy (Ubiquity), Fred Everything (2020 vision), Andy Smith (Portishead), James Taylor (James Taylor Quartet), LSK (Faithless), and Karl Denson (Lenny Kravitz),(Greyboy AllStars).

Anyway, they surely put the groove in groovey! Enjoy!

Nice and funky.

Tho there is not a lot that can be added to this type of music.

All these sounds and beats were originally done back in the late 60s and 1970s.

Watch any X rated movie from the 70s and you will hear this music....I watched a bit of The Black Alley Cats (1973XXX) had this funky music all the way thru.

Everyone was doing it Man.....often Prog rock, jazz infusion type bands and composers...it was Hip, get down, you dig it Man!!

Lots of movies of the time had the same music too, Lots of Europeans, Germans/Dutch composers, etc rocked to this beat.

Peter Thomas, Lalo Schifrin (Bullitt etc) and many others, did this in music movies and were masters at it.......

Oh yeah.

Reminds me of the late-60s-early-70s cop/detective movies and TV shows and so-called blacksploitation films of the time.

"You say that cat Shaft is a BAAAD mutha?"

"Shut'cho mouth!"

Yea more tracks could be added, especially on that first song. Much of their work has more brass too, making a thicker layer of sound. Porn music eh? Classic wah-wah for sure., makes some great rhythm! I like instrumentals better than vocal music and I am glad these guys are continuing a classic style. There is so much crap music generated these days and I enjoy music with actual instruments. They sure do spur one to move and dance and cleaning the house with their music blasting was fun! Good mood stuff for sure!
Thanks for the reply.
