They have range safety aircraft and aircraft that film the launch. It could have been one of them.

Ah Yes, of course. That question mark shaped trail looks exactly like many I have seen left by range safety aircraft and meteors before!

Looks like a missile streak of some kind. Any militarily bases near by?

Probably not helpful...

Me and a buddy were having a few brews out in the parking lot when we saw what looked like a flair shoot up into the sky..

We were pretty confused about it.

Right, because a missile is far more likely to leave that kind of trail, instead of the winds swirling around and causing it.

I am sure someone will come out and say it was a rocket test or Elon launching equipment for the ISS. Back in the day rockets would leave a linear trail but I guess in todays world rockets leave spirals.

It was a meteor caught on dashcam:
Meteor video
I saw it down in So Cal as I waited for the Delta Heavy launch (scrubbed).

Yep. I was really hoping for something mysterious, but after seeing that video, it looks like an obvious meteor. Looks like a straight trail initially that was altered by the wind a short time later. Probably just a straggler from the recent meteor shower.
