We have intelligence sharing agreements with German authorities and they have full-on raided Deutsche bank HQ in Germany and seized truck loads of data. We wouldn't need to subpoena them for anything, we could just ask the Germans.

The Special Counsel follows the money and Sberbank has been tied to Trump going back to 2013 and as recent as financing the Trump Tower Moscow deal.

They are also the only Russian Bank in the US that would be responsible for US Pension Payments to Russians, the route the Dossier alleges was used to pay hackers and others in the USA during the Pro-Trump Operation.

My guess is that the Special Counsel already has evidence via alphabet agencies monitoring Russian transactions in the USA and the Subpoena is just buttoning down a planned indictment.

Correct, but that was before the German Authorities raided HQ for Expansive Money Laundering.

Any illicit money moving through Deutsche Bank relevant to the US, German Authorities will share.
