Rescue teams have been rushed to the 25 story Golden Plaza Tower in Taichung after fire broke out, killing two people and trapping others. Reports say the fire may of started in a bar located on a central floor. Helicopter teams are winching people from the roof of the building.

People on lower floors escaped while others sought refuge on the roof.

One of the dead is reported to have been a security guard at the building.

People fled from the building, shielding their heads with bags to protect from falling glass.

A student, fighting back tears, said "many" classmates and staff were still inside.

The agency said fire crews took up to an hour and a half to extinguish the blaze.
