I'm a bad influence. Somebody has to show people what not to do by doing it.

Like you and Gordi? Aye! LOL

If you use colored font, it would alert people that it is a story.

Story?

Is not each life a story unfolding? LOL I'm going to your house to meet your pixies. I'm an elf so they may not mind.

Now I understand. I think you will believe me when I say that I am not gifted with quickness of understanding.

(Thus you see I have a perfectly good excuse for my manchildish nature.)

I am still tired from my travels and will retire for the evening. Perhaps, if it is welcomed with earnest curiosity, I will continue the account of my travels tomorrow.

Hello Shedlanders everywhere.
This is my Christmas carol for today.

Greetings Shedlings,

Remember a couple of months ago.... I picked LOADS of Sloe berries from the blackthorn bushes...?

Well, I split them into little packs and gave some to my Sis, Nieces and Pals, so that we could have a Sloe-Gin making contest at Christmas (in honour of my late mum!).

Prepare to smack your lips and go "nom nom nom..." because my home made Sloe-Gin and Christmas Spiced Sloe Gin are READY!

Can't wait for Christmas now.
G

Carry on...

Hmm. One bottle seems to be less fuller. It could be my eyes but I don't think so. Hope you all enjoy it regardless.

I've heard the name sloe berries before but I can't say I've ever had them. I do remember an aunt that made non-alcoholic beverages for us kids using elder berries. Tasted fabulous. She called it Grog.
I was too young to ask for the recipe but sugar was a part, that much I do remember. (I used to love sugar as a child.)

Thank you Tom for your latest Christmas in the Shed music! I look forward to these.

Say hello and give a hug to Gail for me will you?

I noticed that one bottle wasn't full too. Perhaps our Gordi is starting Christmas celebrations early.

I have to leave soon. Having lunch with my Sister, Cousins and only remaining Aunt.

Hope all is well with you.

One of the bottles is smaller than the other!

I used a 1 Litre bottle of Gin (From the bottle on the right), which I split equally between a traditional (simple) recipe Sloe Gin and a Festive Spiced one with cloves, cinnamon etc.
The two batches were matured in large glass cider kegs with the fruit & (some) sugar.
You leave it for a couple of months to mature and draw colour/flavours from the fruit etc.
Then strain off the fruit etc and add a sugar syrup to taste.
You end up with 2 x 70cl of Sloe Gin, which I've put into a 70cl bottle AND the original 1L (100cl) bottle which you see in the photo!

Job Done.

Hello Shedders...
Just stopping in for some Christmas cheer. Like so many others, this time of year is very difficult for me. Specifically, I have PTSD and it gets kind of hairy around this time every year. So, can I just hang out here for a while and enjoy the company of you fine folk?

Pull up a chair by the fire Elk.

There's beer in the fridge and coffee on the stove.

Wow...

Your story drew me right in, so much so that it took a while to dawn on me that it was a story.

Thank you so much for that.

While no-one's looking...can I give you a hug? I'm feeling huggy.

This time of year can be hard. Be welcome.

BTW I have loved your avatar since joining.

Thank you SO much for your kind words.
I love to regale the (admittedly) unlikely tales of my exploits.

Hello Elk! Welcome to our lovely Shed castle and make yourself at home. I just love your gorgeous avatar!

It is indeed a difficult time of year for many of us. YES, join us for some Christmas cheer, to chat, have a meal, tell a story or have a pixie drink. There is much to see and do around the Shedlands.
