I'd like a president that wasn't a giant asshole.
Would be nice

Like I said, most want someone who makes them feel better.

Nah. I've been in the Military. Lot's of great leaders that are tough as nails, lead by example, but aren't A-holes.

I read a lot of history books. The best presidents aren't A-Holes. George Washington comes to mind, Eisenhower, etc.

It's really easy to not be a A-hole, unless you are an A-hole.

I’m speaking of politicians, just to be precise.

Like Trump. He's a president. Fair to compare him to other presidents. He comes up lacking. I merely point out that you can be a good, strong leader without being a jerk.

Now how many examples of him being aasshole was him hitting back at someone who verbally attacked and insulted him first?

That’s right. The will to defend oneself and not let people walk all over you is quite admirable in my books.

BINGO!!

Here is my opinion:

He hurt my fragile snowflake feelings he is ass hole that's all I hear in this thread.

MEH feelings. Meh Feelings. ....

Tell me how Trump is an asshole and I can give you numerous people who have attacked him that are just as big of an asshole in my eyes if not more.

I don't give a damn how he acts as long as he produces the results or most of them he promised gets done...

Some people think I'm an asshole in life because I will defend myself and say whats on my mind. I don't believe in being passive when being verbally or physically attacked. I like Trump, believe in hitting back.

I think a number of antitrumpers on ATS are major assholes and that opinion holds just as much water as their opinion of Trump's assholeness does. Being an asshole is very subjective.

Quite a few times Trump was an asshole was in retaliation to people who verbally attacked him first. I'm glad we have someone who hits backs and doesn't run in a corner like a little beta and cry so people will say he took the high road BS...

Liberals are so used to being able to call Republicans anything they want and that person backing down... But not now we got someone who won't take their BS and they can't stand it!

LMAO!

It's a little harder to be a jerk and motivate people.

It's easy to be a jerk and be authoritarian.

Problem is when you take away the authoritarian the idea dies. Which is why inspiring and motivating people through themselves is better for society. Like Reagan and jfk..

I mean, any commercial or marketing effort can be inspiring or motivating, though I’m not sure I would say they are better for society.

And I am not sure giving a person props for authoritarian methodology is ever a good thing. Unless we are living like tribal factions.

Whether Obama or trump.

We need a president like Obama in his last press conference in 2016...he was sooooo presidential it made me sick.

When he told the press he pulled Putin aside in China and said " Hey cut it out..." and according to Obama...they did? So why is there that investigation again?

Ive noticed this trend especially among young people in general that defending oneself is not an admirable quality.

I always laugh at the Trump Rosie O'Donnell incident where that situation was being brought up as and example of him attacking women.

The simple damn fact was she opened her fat mouth and verbally attacked Trump first. Then when he attacked back she plays the victim. I bet they dont call her an asshole though.

Another example and I can post MANY more is of Don Lemon and Lebron James. These two assholes have been verbally attacking Trump for nearly two years now. He finally responds back on Twitter and what happens? The Liberal media screams he is at fault and should not have said anything.

If you notice this is tactic of most liberals. They can instigate a situation verbally or physically. When the person they do this to responds accordingly that person is called the aggressor or "asshole" or the one who should have taken the high road.

They can insult you, call you every name in the book, and do this continually for months. As soon as you defend yourself.

SEE SEE SEE what he done!! He is an asshole !!!

The way Trump wins is the same way Obama wins. They (ab) use their authority. Of coarse also partly because congress is fairly stuck.

However, being cordial and the bigger person is not a bad or weak trait.

Forcing people to use gender pronouns yeah totally against.

Asking people to respect each other, nothing wrong with.

Personally I don't talk about graphic sex in front of my grandmother so I have to assume their is a reason we have different ways to use adjectives, nouns, and verbs based on who the audience is.

Homosexuality was once considered a bad thing by most people. I’m not sure believing something because most people do is that rational.

I doubt that being an asshole is on the same track for acceptance by society.

Tell me why being a complete ass is a good quality for a president to have.

Why can't the president do the things you mention and I don't know, not be a giant dick?

Ummm...why can't...you...not be a giant dick...?

Valid question...

You seem to have this vision of some golden child as president...I bet you just loved Obama in his mom jeans...

Who the eff cares about...presidential...?

I want a president that gets the job done...You...want a prom queen...again...

LMAO...so predictable...

In my own opinion, it forces us to think, some for the first time in their lives. His contempt for the pomp of political theatre forces people either to reject it, or, in the case of many, to find solace in it.

Personally I think Obama was the biggest dick we've seen in a while. He was a great actor but he didn't give a crap about anyone. He was all image and no action.

I prefer my dicks to be straight forward and not hide behind some BS persona.

I believe Trump is out of touch with the common man but I believe he actually wants to do what is best for the working class.

I believe him when he says he wants to MAGA. I haven't believed a president was telling the truth about anything since Regan.

I will take the dick that exposes himself over the dick that hides behind a character and merely plays the role of president.

You know, after 2 decades of pussies and tele-prompter readers and people starting wars for daddy I think what we need in office is an asshole. You see, sometimes an asshole is someone who tells it like it is but then later on you say to yourself, wow, if that person was not an asshole this would have never gotten done.

Hmmm. So with Trump we've got someone who...

1. Without a teleprompter can't put together a coherent thought
2. Keeps on keeping on with the war machine (and feeding the MIC beast)
3. Tells it based on petty and fear-based emotion... not at all 'like it is'
4. Is an asshole, which is never good. You can be plenty blunt without the assholery.
5. Is constantly acting like a pussy in all his complaining, name-calling, and reactionary spaz-outs
5. Still isn't getting anything done.

Asshole approach officially not working (unless feeding his divisive base counts).
You may want to take a second look, your list of criteria for prez seems to be falling a bit short with ole Trump.

I share his contempt. I think it's a good thing.

I don't think that what makes him an asshole. It's the way he chooses to behave that makes him an asshole.

I'd bet he could display his contempt and still drive issues without being an asshole... and it would still force people to think.

He certainly behaves differently than any politician, but I would argue not that different than your average dick and jane. Seriously, who hasn't made fun of Rosie O'Donnel?
