The American pastor Brunson is in jail in Turkey after the failed coup d'etat in 2016.

source
Now the US has imposed sanctions against the turkish justice and the interior minister.
But it's obvious the only way to get Brunson out of Turkey will be in exchange for Fethullah Gülen.
This is nothing short of kidnapping and blackmailing. There should be an international law to ban this kind of behaviour of a state.

Typical hypocrites US spooks using a pastor as a spy . The US is always above International Law. Laws are loosely quoted any time the West want;s to effect regime change.

Just in this case Turkey is doing it quite regularly, like with Deniz Yücel and the secret deal Germany made to get him free.

Yeah, damn those Turks! If only the US didn't try and overthrow governments through methods such as sanctioning, financial blackmail, assassination, armed coups and wars etc.

Shocking behaviour

Exactly, wanted to say the same. Turkey always has some german hostages. To be left alone and not sanctioned or even critized when attacking other nations, when attacking own population, to get more and more money and weapons etc.

Two wrongs don't make a right. You got something on topic or just general anti-American propaganda?

Couldn't care less whether he is or isn't, I doubt the US government do either

Don't think of it as anti-American propaganda, think of it as the truth, which most certainly isn't 'propaganda'

And you seriously want to say the 2016 coup was an American initiative?

Who knows, but something went on there, and why would Turkey think it was the US?

Well, Turkey seem to think he's some sort of criminal associated with the guy who they think is behind it(currently residing in the US, strangely enough). If what Turkey says is true, do you think the US will ever admit it publicly?

Additionally, why won't the US give the guy up Turkey thinks is responsible? The story stinks from both sides

Because he is a personal enemy of Erdogan and surely get tortured and killed if the US would give him to Turkey. Besides his ideas are no reason to think he would ignite violence in any way.

Guess it comes down to who you believe, and I somehow doubt it's as straightforward as you make it

Turkeys president set this up. HE was in the air returning to turkey and the ones escorting him were arrested later as coup members. If they actually were coup members they would had shot him down. Tha man is a man with a inferiority complex who if you insult his manhood has his goons beat you up or worse.

Not everything is a CIA spy job. We should just go in and set him free and dare turkey to do anything about it.
