LOS ANGELES (AP) - A federal appeals court ruled Tuesday that the Second Amendment protects the right to openly carry a gun in public for self-defense.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 that Hawaiian officials had violated George Young's rights when he was denied a permit to openly carry a loaded gun in public to protect himself.

The decision reversed a lower court ruling that sided with officials who said the amendment only applied to guns kept in homes

Federal Appeals Court Rules Open Carry is a Right

Yeah buddy!!

2nd Amendment

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Shall not be infringed!! Bout time our government started making the right choices here. Now we need to them mainly the Fed's to realize their rightful place in our government and it isn't regulating every aspect of daily life and business. Also, let's abolish the income taxes and all social and corporate welfare programs.

Then we might get somewhere.

You also have the right to be mercilessly harrassed by every law enforcement officer that sees you.

As much as I'd like to carry, man it just wouldn't be worth the risk. Cops these days like to shoot the instant they see a gun

Someday I wish to see our concealed carry rights returned. I spent months in classes and weeks of income to get a legal permit to keep a firearm in my bag, or in the trunk of my car... then the state went and made it legal- could have saved all of that.
Of course, if I try and leave the state to go anywhere they could very well throw me in prison for the same thing.

Shall not be infringed... ... ... Would be nice.

Senator McConnell said that they are approving the installation of a "record number" of Federal Judges. (He threatened to cancel August recess if the Democrats didn't quit obstructing.) It's apparently starting to pay off, even in liberal courts.

Yeah, the fact that the 9th did this is amazing. They have been the most liberal court for decades.

Perhaps recent rulings from the Appeal Courts and the Supreme Court are showing more neutrality, since the decisions are split 5/4, or whatever.

Aww you beat me to it with posting this! Yes finally someone understands shall not be infringed!!
I'm the rare one who thinks the 2nd also allows an American citizen to own a tank if they could afford it! Anything uncle Sam has, I citizen taxpayer should have the right to own too!

You may already be able to carry that "hog" as long as it is not concealed.

If you read further into the 2nd its limited to arms. not tanks treads or artillery. It was originally ONLY for stuff a militiaman can carry. last i checked we cant tote a tank on our backs.

Only if one does something illegal and fails to let em know they are carrying. Then proceeds to reach for it...
Kinda puts a police officer "on edge"
Moral of the story -when under arrest , keep hands up and dont do anything stupid
Will work every single time.

As a lifetime member of the NRA I'm going to say "No" to that idea. I'm not thinking "to keep and bear arms" has much to do with tanks, or F-18's, or nukes. Sorry.
