This is what happens to our body.

We're wondering what happens to our consciousness.

Your consciousness is your body.

So what's the difference between the mind vs the brain that keeps coming up so I can illogically cling to out fear of eternal misery?

Mind over matter...is that what they are saying, how is that possible? You saying man can't control it own destiny, that up to some fictional or factual, which non ficitonal btw that up to the odds.

Brains don't do much on their own. They need energy, hydration, oxygen &c. In that sense, a mind isn't just a brain (a brain in a void), but the entire body. Fundamental notions such as up or down would be impossible if our bodies weren't in this particular form. If we had wings, our thinking, our mind, would be vastly different. So our entire body has much to do with how we think, speak, our consciousness etc.

Watching a video trying to explain the unexplainable is in my terms......a waste of time.

non of us know.

But I'm leaning towards life after death.

Too many of these discussions go to only one religion, Christianity. Or they only look at the physical Cadavers, bodily functions decay, electric activity in the brain and miss the real question or subject. Consciousness.

Why do I believe? I've seen too much evidence of the Paranormal. Personally with Psychics that shouldn't have known what they know...with ghosts or spirits. With weird little coincidences and happenings. Writings of those who have died and come back or talk about reincarnation etc.

you can't just dismiss everything out of hand. Sure some of you will.

What If I'm wrong and there is no creator or life after death or spirit world or god or anything like that? I won't know, I'll just die and be lost in the nothingness. No harm no foul. I'm not a religious zealot, psycho, so I won't kill you if you don't believe me.

It gives me the strength to carry on and hope for life and helps my life have meaning. And it just seems legit with all the experiences I've had in my life.

OP - I'm assuming you're a pretty decent person? or at least try to be? I could be wrong, maybe you're rotten to the core, but I'm going to believe that you're a stand up person. Work hard, do the right thing, take care of your family, your home, be honest and ethical? So if there's no after-life, why bother being all of those things? Why not just go out and be a horrible person? take what you want regardless of who gets hurt. I mean if there's nothing to look forward too after this life, why bother doing the right thing or living it for that matter? I think the real question is: If you are a good person, WHY are you a good person? What motivates you to be a good and decent human being?? Maybe there's a reward at the end of the tunnel?

I don't have any physical proof, I don't know anyone personally that's had a near death experience, yeah I believe in God but I'm more spiritual than by the book. But yeah, there's something after this physical life waiting for us. How do I know? who knows... It's just something I've known, really without a doubt known, pretty much since I was born. The real test is getting through this physical life being the best you can, and believing and having faith despite the lack of proof that everyone asks for. Me? it's easy... want proof? Look around at this amazing world in all of its natural beauty.

Right before my mom died, she looked like an infant child. She had literally reverted back to infancy. Months later I was watching that movie "Heaven is Real", and the line where the kid says "Everyone in Heaven is a child"... struck me like lightening! wow... The night my sister died she came to me in a dream. She hugged me and said she'd see me later. I believe that I will.

OR, maybe I'm just full of BS.

Yes I'd agree here.

I think that's an important distinction to make in these types of discussions.

It's not so much if there is life after death, but if there is consciousness after death. We then fall into the chasm of what consciousness is and if it requires a body/brain/or some other physical substrate.

It's too bad the people opining that life after death is impossible have not actually watched this video.

There is an afterlife, but only in the sense that you’ll live on in the memories of the people you’ve affected. That is more than enough reason to live morally and justly without the need to evoke magic and superstition.

There is no consciousness or perception without a body. When your body dies, your reality bubble within the holographic universe blinks out of existence.

Does it continue without you? It doesn't matter if it does or not, because you're dead.

I hope nobody lives by this paradigm because it assumes they are only trying to be a decent human being out of 'reward'. Empathy, sympathy and being in touch with others is enough for me to want to be a decent human being, I don't need God or a 'reward' for me to go about my life without deliberately going out of my way to hurt others. One would hope others are inclined to do the same too.

Of course this has offers no insight into whether consciousness survives death but regardless of whether it does or not, it's actually irrelevant for this life anyway as it does not affect anything within it because if it does exist, we are out of touch with it for the time being.

Moral decency should exist with or without a belief system.

I have always suspected throughout my years, now 79, that we are more than this body and acted accordingly. Then when about late in my 60’s I was driven to find out. So I trained to move discs with my mind and did so after some majorly painful experiences getting there. I am a skeptic and so tested myself six ways of Sunday to make sure errant wind was not creating a result.

Ok, so I convinced myself, yes, I was outside the body and along the way odd things happened. Imagine this a training camp to release myself from the body. I found I could project my consciousness, but the downside was, I had trouble re-connecting. So far, just circumstantial but encouraging.

Then odd things happened such as a high pitch sound waking me from sleep, then being taken out of my body and introduced to my soul or light body. I was told it was a sacred thing. Later I did this on my own which I have described in other posts. The funny aspect is, our cat would watch me float up above the body, wide eyed and a little fearful. One other time, I bounced in and out rapidly and scared the critter to death, she darted away. I also was seen at a friends home twice, scaring the bejesus out of her when attempting an outing one night, I did not remember that, but knew the time frame was when I was attempting.

Another time, I was torn out of body attempting to contact a being that my grandson encountered, he being 17 at that time. I ordered my body to stay quiet as I was in a complete blackness, manifested vision and from then on that evening had a great time frolicking without my body, it has five joint replacements, it felt great to be free.

There is more, call these what you will, but we exist above and beyond the body, the body does not manifest us, we reside within the body like driving a car with an Ai computer built in, we are in a constant struggle to keep control I suppose. There is not life after death, because there is not death, only the car we drive ceases to work and rots away. Eg

That's the thing, many people have stories but nobody can prove what's after death, people naturally hallucinate when they die so nobody can really tell whats real and whats not.

It's interesting though. So many paranormal things that can't easily be explained. Past life stories. Near Death experiences. I'm near certain there's life after death although sometimes my faith in a better after life is sorely lacking...what do I lose by believing that? Nothing. If I'm wrong, it will all fade to nothingness and I won't know any better.
