What is the truth?

The truth is what exists.

The truth is what is the case.

To illustrate, lets say I put an apple in a paper bag. Then what is the truth in this case? The truth is that there is an apple in the paper bag.

If I said there was an orange in the paper bag, then that would not be the truth. That would not be the case. That would not be what exists (in reality).

Sometimes we cannot see what is in the paper bag.

In that case what is the truth?

In that case - the truth is that we do not know what is in the paper bag. That is the truth. There is no need to go further. There is no need to surmise.

To surmise would be a self made delusion.

Let us strive to live in the truth - where our views and beliefs are in line with what truly exists, with what truly is the case.

Let us strive to live in the truth - Where our views and beliefs are free from delusion, free of surmise.

Blavatsky forwarded each of the volumes in the Secret Doctrine with that quote: "there is no truth higher, than the ONE truth.
Only it was in Sanskrit, originally

But is an apple all that is in the bag? No. Air, particles of who knows what, and what all is an apple made of? So maybe truth is more complex and, at best, only partial and to lesser or greater extent unknowable.

To be strived for I agree.

first thing to ask, is if the person knows the difference between an apple and an orange.

You're literally talking apples and oranges.

I'm going with the standard definition, why should I reinvent the wheel?

wiki

Objectivity (philosophy) ... A proposition is generally considered objectively true (to have objective truth) when its truth conditions are met without biases caused by feelings, ideas, opinions, etc., of a sentient subject

Bull*

So if we all believe that there is a orange in the bag then it has to be true. Now that is blind belief.

Ignorant people most certainly 'go no further' when their spokesman states that there is an orange in the bag.

Maybe dogs like 'Toto' in the Wizard of Oz has more common sense than humans that followed their true senses to get to the REAL TRUTH.

The entire military complex believes that their god is the best and blindly fight to the death. Oh if only they knew the real truth that they are all being controlled by predictable daemons.

Life would be so much easier and pleasant if everyone spoke the truth...

People say that a 'little white lie' is harmless....NO

Such as does "my bum look big in this"

If they need to ask, surely they want the truth?

ANYTHING built on lies has a very shakey foundation which however long it

takes comes to the fore, and blights everything in its path.

Liars have to have a very good memory.....
So much easier to live by the truth.......

That's a question that could drag on for a while. The difference would depend on whether or not said observer recognized a difference between the two. Then you have a fork in the road with two separate groups, one that observes the difference and the other that doesn't.

This is how wars start, Belief systems and Control mongering adversaries.

The truth is, all truth exists within the individual.

My two cents.

What if we all believe there's an apple in the
bag? Always looking at the negative only right?
That really has to suck.

The truth lives forever ergo The Living Bible

So is a curious child, who naturally questions what they are told to believe by authority, a negative thinker, if they see no evidence of the 'fact' given to them by their higher-ups ?

Yeah - it sucks that every mortal can lie. Hence, trust no-one and Judge everyone by the fruits they bare.

Maybe read the OT. The amount of contradictions are staggering. Example: if everything died during the Great Flood, where did all the Rephaim pop-up from whilst the Israelites were exiting Egypt ?

If Noah and family were perfect 100% pure sinless DNA, how did countless Jews keep returning to sin during the 'Exodus' and have to be killed off by god in 'Numbers' ?

You could always paint the apple orange to disguise the truth like politicians and media does

Assuming our discussion is on topic. As
the truth of scripture being the highest
as well as the most important truth known.
I'll engage.

So is a curious child, who naturally questions what they are told to believe by authority, a negative thinker, if they see no evidence of the 'fact' given to them by their higher-ups ?

Not an easy one to answer. Luckily I have
never been "Told what to believe "by any one.
However I can admit to you this. If had been
"Told" I would ikely never have come to my
conclusions. Because being told anything
by anyone never set well with me. So I was
lucky in that regard.

And how is a curious child ever a negative
thinker? Sadly that comes later when we think
we know something.

Most children aren't aware of scientific
protocol. The simply choose to believe
something or they don't. IMO

Yeah - it sucks that every mortal can lie. Hence, trust no-one and Judge everyone by the fruits they bare.

I would argue this point from the platform of
"Freedom of choice". More correctly written,
It sucks that mortals choose to lie. To them
selves most of all.

Maybe read the OT. The amount of contradictions are staggering. Example: if everything died during the Great Flood, where did all the Rephaim pop-up from whilst the Israelites were exiting Egypt ?

On these boards alone, these contradictions as
you refer to. Have been discussed ad nauseum.
Can scripture be attacked, mocked, regarded as
myth even lies? Can it be ridiculed for lacking
evidence of God and his miracles? Can what
seem to be at best petty contradictions be
found?
Of course! But is it just the common fallacy of
the written word being played by unbelievers?
You can do a critque or edit a note from your
mom and get the same results. It is all a very
week argument. And has never come close to
being cause to consider any other view. Does
scripture speak of miracles that make it sound
hokey and unbelievable? OMG hell yes it does!
BIGTIME. But when I look at every other view
possible I can think of. They are all even more
hokey and unbelievable. And that is a FACT!
Try and explain existence with a belief in
nothing?

If Noah and family were perfect 100% pure sinless DNA, how did countless Jews keep returning to sin during the 'Exodus' and have to be killed off by god in 'Numbers' ?

Sin is destructive to the soul not DNA.

They would have us believing that apples
are orange and oranges are red just so
they could say see, it's not all apples and
oranges.

Is this a Schrodinger's cat thing where we don't know if the cat is alive or dead kind-off argument?

Also - we are human. We will probe said 'paper bag', maybe x-ray that sucker? I'm sure there are vastly superior methods of determining whats inside than a x-ray

For the time we are allotted, we must scrutinize the paper bag.

Even if someone says, there is an apple inside the bag. The truth is that I really do not know what is inside the bag. That is my truth, until someone actually show me what is inside. Everything else is just a probability.
