Executive privilege regarding conducting military strikes outside of Congressional declared wartime is rather specific to situations that mandate a commander in chief sort of emergency response. Right?

The "liberal media" that supposedly wants to DESTROY Trump, yet they wont take this softball that lands on the home plate?

Instead last year, a year ago when Trump bombed that airport in response to that "chemical" "attack", all they've ever done since is frame the issue around how unsuccessful it was.

We're all being played together folks, including against each other, by all the same fountainheads as one another.

President Trump takes 2 actions in just ONE WEEK that will save countless lives, and supposedly "moral" people are out there whining about how disappointed they are in this man...with some even calling for his impeachment.

They need to look in the mirror, and figure out if it's really a MORAL PERSON who's looking back at them.

Can you tell me where in the Constitution ?
I believe I have eye problems and cannot see it...

Bill Clinton took out a baby formula manufacturing plant
Barack Obama took out an aspirin manufacturing plant
Donald Trump took out a bleach plant.

But , I will be waiting on your answer to the first question...

For crying out loud, dropping bombs and firing missiles does not save lives. They are not love bombs or peace missiles.

Getting rid of something that kills people, saves lives. Chemical Weapons and Sex trafficking gateways, are 2 examples from last week alone.

Wow, the logic of some of the replies tells the entire story of what is wrong with this country and the world. You know what else bleach does? It saves lives, millions every day. It helps keep the refugee camps clean from all the bacteria in the latreens and the cooking area's clean after serving ten's of thousands of meals 3x a day. It also saves lives by sanatizing laundry from life destroying pathogens. That is what the main use of sodium hypochlorite is.

you know what else kills people? Cars & trucks. They are used in suicide attacks where people fill them with explosives or they just drive straight into crowds. Would the POTUS be justified in bombing an auto manufacturing plant after they were used to run people over? What about the day after thanksgiving or new years, when we find out that 30-40 people were killed by drunk drivers. I guess it is time to nuke Detroit.

Some people really should have their reproductive organs removed with a rusty knife and have them fed to dogs or just throw them in the fire, no need to treat dogs so poorly.

As far as the action, it is illegal from looking at the war powers act and the RUMF. Even if prior presidents have done similar actions it doesn't matter. The fact that the Dem's aren't all over this is a major red flag as this could be grounds to draw up impeachment plans and that could push Trump to make mistakes. I'm not saying that I am for that especially, but that is what I would expect the Dem's to be doing 10,000%. We have to ask why they aren't. That is the biggest question I can see we are facing because it will point to many hidden things.

Its really healthy that we have a habit of alternating Republican and Democrat presidents. Its allows the thinking people to see the hypocrisy in the media and recognize it as the worthless garbage that it is.

Up until 2008 all you heard from the media (except fox) was that Bush was a war criminal who was shredding the constitution. Atleast once a week MSNBC would bring out a washed up sportscaster to pass off as a newsman to declare Bush, Cheney, or a combination of the two "THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD".
Then in 2008 the heavens opened up and angels descended to deliver to us Barrack Obama. And he did more or less the same things as George Bush. Continued the war in Iraq. Continued drone strikes. Even got us involved in some new stuff like the AFRICOM missions. But according to the media all that stuff isnt so bad anymore. Except Fox News. Fox News now says that Obama is shredding the constitutionand growing presidential powers and taking military action without consulting congress.
Then here we are about a year into another Republican presidency and Donald Trump is carrying out, more or less, the same foreign policy goals. We are providing cover and throwing our weight behind the kurds occupying 1/3 of syria, we are nation building in afria. We are helping saudis with thier fight in yeman. And this last airstrike. Except now its flipped again and i just heard bernie sanders saying that its unconstitutional that narrative is being pushed now. It really just highlights the point that politcs is a game. Literally. Its two sides trying to do the same damn thing a little differently.

Interesting thing though that ive noticed is that this time there is a considerable amount of Republicans in the media not onboard. Gotta wonder what thats about. Maybe they are just reading the tea leaves and see their base getting war weary after 15 years of wars.

No, they don’t like someone in power going off script.
That and they may be wondering how an impeachment would affect them in the long run.

Horse crap. Civilians, non-combatants will have died in these air strikes, because they always do and you know what happens then? Some orphaned lad, or some father of murdered children, some daughter of murdered parents, is left in the dust, with only one question on their young impressionable minds, the same questions that would be on my mind in the same situation. Who launched that assault, and how do I go about killing them?

And despite the fact that this is a human reaction to being wronged, a reaction that is the exact same for every war orphaned child without access to mental healthcare facilities, or a peaceful place to rest, despite every father and mother who loses a child to malicious and violent acts, all over the world, having the depth of grief necessary to cause them to take up what arms they may have available against whatever harmed their children, its only when WE in the West cause this harm to others, that we claim that those we are bombing are "animals" or that their culture is toxic.

Airstrikes create terrorism. Unwelcome and unwanted military occupation creates terrorism. A government unchecked and unaccountable to its people, employing and funding terror groups in other nations, thereby to destabilise those regions for the purpose of allowing their rich friends to snap up otherwise untouchable resources, or raise the prices of commodities like oil for example, specifically and by definition creates terrorism. No solution to the terror issue or to Assad himself, comes from bombing the living hell out of a region and calling it diplomacy. No solution to any of the worlds problems comes from blowing up heaps of people, all in order to tag a few units of a weakened military force, already fighting several fronts within its own nation, against proxy armies controlled by the west. All the actions committed by Trump have achieved, is the creation of more terrorism and an escalation of a desperately delicate series of international tensions.

You can argue till you are blue in the face, but once again we are in a situation where you are welcome to your own opinion, but you are not welcome to your own reality. You and I live in the same one, and the only thing your opinion has to show for itself, is how poorly you have understood the reality before you, not what the reality is, what it looks like, or what it means for the future.

President has not needed congressional authority for quite some time to do a strike like he did, and for the troops in theater Obama and Bush kind of broke that as well.

It used to be the president could send troops in for something like 45-60 days without authority, and military strikes were always considered to fall in this area. After that time limit though it is supposed to require congress to do their thing.

But Bush and Obama just kind of ignored this law and sent troops where ever they felt like it, and congress kind of abdicated their authority in this area.

Least thats how it looks to me.

Like those 2000 US soldiers on the ground in Syria? Pretty sure they are part of the USA and deserve some “protecting” and don’t deserve to be Assads next chemical experiment. Should they be there? Irrelevant to the tone of this thread that insists bad actors should be allowed to employ weapons forbidden by world treaties.

I applaud POTUS’ actions in this case. World sees what happens when a country uses illegal weapons on their own soil/people. They all should be able to do the math and predict the exponential destruction to their country if they try it on US soil. ANY country that tries it on US soil.

Just like obama did with all them other countries he bombed without them.

Or they are just stupid.

To play devils advocate for a second...
Pulling those 2,000 troops out of syria would be the most effective and cost efficient way to protect them.
