a reply to: 727Sky>>> I have to thank my brother for turning me on to Art Bell and Coast to Coast. I was always a talk radio fan, listening to local hosts ( this was pre syndicated talk). Then he began listening to Bruce Williams who I also became a fan of. Then he found Art Bell and it was instant obsession.
I like George Noory probably more, to be honest Art Bell got a little weird with his personal life. But Noory's show has too damn many commercials and infomercials and idiot guests. The really fantastic shows are still there, but fewer and I can't listen every night. I'll also add that Clyde Lewis has a great show worth listening to.

Dude was a freaking Legend. I literally wouldn't know or even care to know half of the stuff I do without that man.

I hadn't listened to CtoC in years, due to the nice but dull new host(s), and for some reason I tuned in just as Noorey was announcing Art's death... odd, that.

Bell was a part of my late shifts and insomniac nights for almost two decades ...and I'm sad.

Back in the day Art would call B.S. on a guest and if they persisted he would just go to open lines... Now C2C is a touchy feely bunch of crystal rubbing nonsense.... to me anyway..

Jimmy Church and George Knapp are just about the only two I will listen to now... John B. Wells was certainly not a wilting Lilly either but of course he was canned..

Art Bell was the best talk show host I ever listened to.
He instilled in me a thirst for the paranormal, ufo’s, and just plain weirdness
that abounds on our little world.
I have been a regular listener since 94-95 and I still am today.
I always loved camping in the Sierra’s or on the playa at BlackRock desert with a trillion
stars in sight, some good friends, some good beer and Art Bell in your ear!
Still listen to him every day and I probably always will.
When I heard he had died it felt like losing a friend, not just another “celebrity “ passing.

Farewell Art Bell, now you are free to cruise the cosmos and find the answers to the unanswerable.....

The new and improved C2C ... From what I have read, John B. had the highest ratings on C2C.. If you look on Youtube I think there is a video where he explained what happened... He was touching on to many controversies for I heart radio and George was not happy being out done on the ratings.. Bad blood if I remember correctly.. ?????? Or... maybe I am wrong been awhile ago since I listened to the reasons..

Now it is George Knap or Jimmy Church or I usually just don't listen..

John B. Wells has his own radio show that I listen to on YouTube. I really cannot listen to George Snoory.

Although I found Art Bells' show entertaining, I never took it seriously. He did have a way of captivating his audience to keep listeners. After listening for some years I came to the conclusion that many of his callers were staged to appear to be random. Actors would have been needed for a symbalence of quality.

He had a good idea in creating C to C, which was basically stolen from him. May he rest in peace.

The update on why he passed away:

Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly posted a brief Facebook announcement on Wednesday saying an autopsy determined the 72-year-old Bell died of "multiple drug intoxication from his own lawfully prescribed prescriptions."

Coroner John Fudenberg in Las Vegas says Bell had the painkillers oxycodone and hydrocodone, the sedative diazepam and the muscle-relaxant carisoprodol in his system.

Coroner concluded with no indication of foul play.

i wonder if it was suicide, maybe he was very ill and knew he only had a pain filled future to look forward to and decided to take his own life while he still had the power to do so.

i told my sister who is a doctor that if i were to be injured to the point of me being a vegetable or extremely disabled to 'take me out'. she said she would.

sometimes the most humane and loving thing someone can do is let them go, and if it is the persons wish maybe help them go in a way they find dignified.

That's what I think as well. Art was a very heavy smoker, who would want to endure chemo and radiation only to still die a painful lingering death?
