It's now being reported by an independent Swiss lab that the chemical agents used to poison the ex Russian spy and his daughter in the UK is actually UK/US-Produced.

Interesting.
Please provide a link to the report from that lab.

I asked for that report. Your link says:

Russia’s foreign minister says Moscow has received a document from a Swiss lab that analyzed the samples in the nerve agent poisoning of an ex-Russian spy, which points at a Western-designed nerve agent as a likely cause.

Did you mean to say that a Russian official has reported that a Swiss lab has reported to Russia? Because that would seem to be a more accurate description of the situation.

So it seems as if you are saying you do not trust Russians.

Is it that nothing they say can be believed?

Or is this just used for your convenience.

With the single exception being the infamous russian dossier.

Yes.
Unlikely they would reference a report publicly if it did not exist, though, especially as the Lab was also named.

The "report" from Russia said "at Spiez", but I suppose that works.

You believe the Russian official? Not saying he's lying, mind you. But why?

See post above - Unsurprisingly, the lab has referred to the Porton Down Lab to confirm, as I believe Spiez tested for confirmation of Porton Downs findings.
The Russians should release the report if they really have it.

I don't believe or disbelieve the Russians - I want them to release the report.

The lab itself says that they concur with Porton Down. It sounds like the Russian official is distorting the findings. But maybe that's just me.

That report from the embassy seems to be waffling somewhat on what was said.

The Russians also say Novichock was found, but also two other agents. Spiez have not denied this, they have only confirmed that Novichock was found.

What a surprise.

Seems pretty clear to me:

Embassy Press Officer comments on the findings of the Swiss experts regarding the Salisbury incident

Q. Is there any new information regarding the findings of experts from Switzerland in connection with the Salisbury poisoning?

A. According to information from the Swiss Federal Institute for NBC-protection in Spiez, its experts received samples collected in Salisbury by the OPCW specialists and finished testing them on 27 March. The experts of the Institute discovered traces of toxic chemical called “BZ” and its precursors.

It is a Schedule 2 substance under the Chemical Weapons Convention. “BZ” is a chemical agent, which is used to temporary incapacitate people. The desired psychotoxic effect is reached in 30-60 minutes after application of the agent and lasts up to four days. According to the information the Russian Federation possesses, this agent was used in the armed forces of the USA, United Kingdom and several others NATO member states.

No stocks of such substance ever existed either in the Soviet Union or in the Russian Federation. In addition, the Swiss specialists discovered strong concentration of traces of the nerve agent of A-234 type in its initial states as well as its decomposition products.

In view of the experts, such concentration of the A-234 agent would result in inevitable fatal outcome of its administration. Moreover, considering its high volatility, the detection of this substance in its initial state (pure form and high concentration) is extremely suspicious as the samples have been taken several weeks since the poisoning.

It looks highly likely that the “BZ” nerve agent was used in Salisbury. The fact that Yulia Skripal and Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey have already been discharged from hospital, and Sergei Skripal is on his way to recovery, only supports such conclusion. All this information was not mentioned in the final OPCW report at all. Considering the above, we have numerous serious questions to all interested parties, including the OPCW.

I believe A-234 is Novichock.
If it's true it is deadly in the form it was found, then why did all the people exposed recover?

The Swiss report needs to be made public.

How many people were exposed to it?

As my edit above says; Russia is questioning the chain of custody, if not the lab results. What else can they do except say, "Yup. We did it."

Estimates up to 130, with 50 checked in hospital, but of course we know that 3 were in serious condition.

I'd expect Russia to review the findings and defend themselves if they didn't do it, and try to cover it up if they did do it. Given we don't know if they did it, the only really important thing right now is for the Spiez Lab to release the full report.

And Russia knows its chemical weapons. They all should have died. British CW agents aren't nearly as effective.

Well, not if they were actually exposed to BZ (apparently).
It's also worth pointing out that Porton Down did not say conclusively that it was Novichock that was used - that adds to the likelihood other agents were found.

Like I said, Russia is not going to admit to anything so their only option is to obfuscate. If it was our stuff, everyone would be dead.

Maybe they're right. Or not.
