Having the people who run facebook give you access to all of their data, and censoring people who dislike you on your side is nothing compared to a company using a small portion of whats on facebook to help the other guy.

I think from what I googled (with my hand cranked computer - you were pretty witty), Obama used fund raising and direct appeals to potential voters. He put spin on issues.

It seems CA used lists of all voters in the US to do the same, but also manufacture completely false news stories, hide sources, and deliberately misinformvoters. Voters were targeted, as were groups. The goal was to breed disention among voters and cause Americans to polerize.

A deliberate attempt to divide americans, not to win short term goals or elections, but to weaken our country.

The methodology they used slowly moves attitudes.

We all might have been affected, to some degree.

I did not vote for Trump or any Clinton ever. But I am concerned about this new method to change our attitudes. 1984 scary.

Not bashing Trump here, just concerned that a company can use social media data to influence opinions slowly without us tracking the effects.

All for a few million dollars.

Eta: saw the CEO of CA on a report today. Pretty cocky. Said Trump and all candidates are puppets. Said house intel commity was a joke. Said the algorithms they use slowly change attitudes. Said they bribe, use honey pots, extortion etc to win elections.

CA also has the lead contest for Trumps 2020 run.
