Seems that a Pegasus 737-800 has overshot at Trabazon Airport in Turkey and ended up in a pretty precarious position?

www.airlive.net...

A few feet more and things could have been a lot worse for those trying to get off of that aircraft? And will be interesting trying to remove it from that area i suspect?

How in the ......... did the crew manage to end up there?? Blown tire maybe?

Weird location to shoot off the runway all the way at the end... If they were landing they would not have been moving fast. If they were on takeoff and aborted it would make a little more sense I guess...

Time will tell. Happy there were no mayor injuries!

EDIT:
Well, according the the article they were landing. They must have messed up pretty bad to end up there....

If they were moving that fast at the end of the runway they would have skidded off at the end anyway.
I just think the angle of skidmarks in the grass are very weird. I would have expected them to be at a much shallower angle if they skidded off due to a slippery runway.

Very curious as to the cause.

Yes I'm glad the Mayor wasn't injured as well! lol
Seriously though its either a case of he forgot which end of the runway he was at in the fog and therefore turned back in the wrong direction, or he suffered the old 737 nose wheel steering failure/hard over problem and in the fog didn't realise till he was off the runway. Either way I'm pretty sure that aircraft is sadly a write off.

One engine came off, which means at the least there is pylon damage. At worst the wing itself was damaged.

The plane "had a runway excursion incident" which may have been caused by a bird strike.

They came up short... of runway.

It sounds like they floated as they went over the end of the runway, and then hydroplaned. The passengers are saying they felt the plane slowing, then speeding up, without a corresponding power increase, which is consistent with sliding.

Sunturk flight from ankara to trabzon, falls off the runway yesterday.
When you ask for something on a message board that obviously no one is going to give you, it's called a "4311".
Move along nothing happening here.

The pilots have spoken to investigators and passed the breathalyzer tests. According to one of the pilots, they were preparing for a standard right turn, when suddenly the #2 engine surged uncommanded. That's also the engine that came off and went into the water.
