If you don’t own a 1000 acres or a mansion what do you care what they pay. People with that kind of money can move anywhere.

I don't care about them. I'm talking about millions of people who can't just pack up and leave. Be it because of their job, family, or whatever reason you want to pick. I'm sure they would love lower state taxes. I know I would.

Those people wouldn’t qualify anyway. They take the standard deduction. Ever since the last tax reform, only the rich or very sick qualify for itemization.

ETA. The standard deduction is the same in all states.

So someone who only makes 50K in California doesn't pay high taxes?

I don’t choose to live in California. I don’t care what their taxes are.

Then why are you whining about this?

This tax reform does not just effect California. I have a right to criticize it without being called a whiner.
