There are thousands of threads that have been posted in regard to the "Big 3" (Christianity, Islam and Judaism), and also the Eastern mystic traditions like Hinduism and Buddhism. So what about interesting topics like Wicca, Voodoo, Pagan and Heathen religions? Surely, with the wide array of personalities here on ATS you'd think that we'd have more fun beliefs to discuss. I enjoy studying other beliefs and I know that a lot of the non discussed spiritual beliefs are extremely fascinating. So, I implore those of you who follow non traditional paths to share. It'll be fun and also a breathe a fresh air. Besides, it has to better than the holy wars fought in this forum daily. Just an idea.

I myself recently have written some. I did not see you contributing there so I must ask how deep is your love and how valid is your criticism? I wrote some very interesting threads on important themes, not a word from you there.

So, why you are pointing fingers perhaps acknowledge that you yourself might be part of the problem and others like you who do not contribute when threads do appear here relating to Paganism.

Even in this thread all you are doing is criticizing instead of actually writing something on the subject.

The obvious answer is that Pagan belief is not as widely held in the modern world as the Patriarchal Religions.

Polytheistic ideas interest me as well, I've never looked much into it other than roman, greek, egyptian, and sumerian though, and even that only a small amount.

PaganSpace.net is a good place for that. There were some pretty good people there when I used to go there. A couple of jerks too, but you find some of those everywhere.

I just logged in, I think I will go see if anyone I know is still there.

Maybe some of us don't wear our beliefs on our sleeve and believe that faith is deeply personal.

I don't require external validation.

I don't require acceptance from believers of "The Big 3".

I walk my own path and don't care what others think.

A. Not criticizing. Simply offering a thought.
B. All I see is Jesus or Islam or Noah's ark in the forum.
C. You posted yesterday. It's not like it's been up a week and I ignored it.
D. No need to act like a super jerk.

See, I was just saying that it would be nice to have more options for discussion and learning. Not saying anyone needs to brag or showoff. Just would like to see more content in the religious forum.

There are many on ATS who profess to follow Wicca and Pagan faiths.

They do post here.

I suppose one might conclude that the big 3 proselytize more, or simply that pagan faiths are more personal but I think, in truth, it is really about the weight of numbers.

I, myself, do not follow a pagan faith and probably have a very poor understanding outside of the classics. I did once do a comparative between 192 different faiths' Creation myths.

Personally, all the Pagan people I know IRL are all on facebook spreading their particular flavor of "love" and such all over it.

They feel that sharing there is more likely to get their message to others who are of like-mind.

Just my $0.02, your mileage may vary.

Some thoughts on this culture that probably pre-dates all so-called religions:

“There is something pagan in me that I cannot shake off. In short, I deny nothing, but doubt everything.”
― George Gordon Byron

“Let my worship be within the heart that rejoices,
for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals.
Therefore, let there be beauty and strength,
power and compassion, honor and humility,
mirth and reverence within you.”
― Doreen Valiente, Charge of the Goddess: The Mother of Modern Witchcraft

“Yet rather than calling the earliest religions, which embraced such an open acceptance of all human sexuality, 'fertility cults,' we might consider the religions of today as strange in that they seem to associate shame and even sin with the very process of conceiving new human life. Perhaps centuries from now scholars and historians will be classifying them as 'sterility cults.”
― Merlin Stone, When God Was a Woman

“When a person assumes that his or her revelation is the only true one, it only says that this person has had very few religious revelations and hasn't realized how many there are.”
― Margot Adler, Drawing Down the Moon: Witches, Druids, Goddess-Worshippers, and Other Pagans in America

“I have learned a great deal from other Witches, Wiccans, Odinists, Voodoo and Hoodou practitioners, Druids and many others who consider themselves Pagan. The one common thread is that every single person has been nonjudgmental. Isn't this what it's all about, acceptance? Are we not here to design our own spiritual path? --Icinia”
― Arin Murphy-Hiscock, Out of the Broom Closet: 50 True Stories of Witches Who Found and Embraced the Craft

“In the secret island the Druid shall dwell once more, and the Bard, the slave of the harp, utter the speech of the Gods.”
― Lewis Spence

“I have heard that Paganism is for broken people, but life cracks everyone in some way.
We are a religion of healing people.”
― Thomm Quackenbush, Pagan Standard Times: Essays on the Craft

“That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die.”

-Abdul Alhazred the mad poet

I think that it's such a broad grove that folk generally discuss such matters in more specialised places.

I also have the impression that many pagans really cant be arsed about engaging in entrenched partisan bickering on faith which is what these things often become here.

Experiments to prove otherwise would be welcome in my eyes

Why the lack of Pagan threads?

Probably because followers of these philosophies in the past have been ridiculed and overtaken by followers of the Big3™ You need to look no further than TheVatican™ which just built their "Shrine™" atop that of a Pagan Shrine.

Thumbnail: They're smarter than that. They've already learned that lesson.
