Agreed. We'll be fine. These days, fear porn sells. Even scientists and academics in the humanities are using it more and more.

Let's pray the opposite is true: 2018 is unsually calm, and doom-pornographer geophysicists end up feeling unusually chastened.

As I said in the other thread on this subject, I think the Earth is slowing down because of the extra water from melting ice due to global warming.

Fear porn, as you call it, has always sold. A significant portion of society pays money to watch horror movies, and otherwise pay to have the hell scared out of themselves. Some pay money to have the hell scared out of themselves on "thrill rides" in which they face death and injury at the fairgrounds. The human species has all sorts of strange behavior.
