You know, one day, in a few hundred years, future generations are going to look back at historical records and ask why it was the that most advanced nation on earth could not act to change to stop mass shootings like this.

Its so sad.

I think however what is almost sadder is that we're not shocked by this anymore, its not surprising, indeed its almost expected that there will be some kind of act of mass murder in America once every few weeks. Not so long ago it was a music festival in Vegas, before that we had schools and churches and today we have another church. What will it be next, a supermarket, your kids school or could it be a hospital.

I am not going to bother getting into the debate about gun laws because they are basically pointless at this point.

I think shockingly its now pretty much accepted that the laws are not going to change so long as the gun lobbies and gun-culture lovers exist.

So rather the important point to be established is who done this and why they done it. Regardless of the law, yet again a man with a gun has killed multiple innocent people.

More guns!!!!!

That's what Americans need to stop all these mass shootings. All these mass shotings in the US obviously only occur because you guys simply don't have enough guns....

How bout not trolling with political bullcrap , the bodies are still warm man what kind of person are you?

Complete lack of compassion or common decency it seems to me , people who IMMEDIATELY start that diatribe after a tragedy.

Get a grip

In a weeks time the bodies will be cold and you'll be totally over it..... What kind of person are you?

Yep, from what I saw posted on his page and postings by him, he seemed like a pretty twisted young man.

Noticed the AR displayed prominently.

I have his Facebook page still up... I guess they have taken it down now.

Took a few screen shots before it went down

People who push gun control like this have no empathy for those who like their freedoms. Dogs resent wolves even as they look down on them.

My question is since when do we ignore mental illness in favor of blaming everything but the individual? If a person is mentally ill, they did it a no one or nothing else.

I agree, mental illness and how we handle it is in dire need of evaluation and reform.

Just ask any soldier coming back from war, just throw some pills at them and send them home.

Prayers to the victims and families affected.

Horrible.

No details on the shooter yet besides being "taken down".

Really. This is not the thread for a gun control debate.

It is not the automobile, the rental truck, the gun, the knife, nor the explosive........It is the person that uses these things for evil, the psychopathic and sociopathic humans that walk among us and use our freedoms abusively and for evil purposes.

1 in 4 people will suffer some kind of mental illness at one point in their life time.

Mental illness is a global problem.

In the UK and many other countries there are lots of people who are living with mental illness, yet we have not reached a stage where mass shootings or killings are just a normal part of our daily lives.

When you try to make this about mental health you do two things, firstly, you are excusing the real problem, lack of gun regulations and secondly you are only compounding the stigma attached to mental health.

The problem is your dam guns.

Not mental illness.

Not to get off subject, but to point out that yes: Criminals don't follow laws, so no the laws don't matter.

Someone intent on such actions as we have seen, and as we will have to bare witness too will be unaffected of any law. It's kind'a like the whole "stay off the grass" thing.. How many people still walk across the grass, or just step on it to spite the sign and the rules?

Murder is illegal already, be it by hands, hammers, cars, bombs, straws, pipes, and guns.

Without the gun culture and lobby you are so angry with, only the criminals would have guns.

Kind'a like with your thug groups in London, isn't stabbing people illegal, yet it still goes on?

Really. This is not the thread for a gun control debate.

27 people head off to church to pray and end up shot.

Tell me if now is not the time to talk about gun control when is?

Because it seems to be that gun advocates like to avoid this issue in the aftermath of every shooting, "ohhh nows not the time to talk about that"

Well then tell me, when the hell is?!?!

Gawd!! There are literally hundreds of threads about the gun debate. Give it at least one day and go ahead and start another! We will all participate.

In response to your comment, dozens if not hundreds of pedestrians and bicyclists headed off to get some fresh air and exercise in NY, and ended up being mowed down by a freakin' rental truck!!

IT. IS. THE. HUMAN.

Anyone who reads the blatherings that I display on this site know that I am against government healthcare.

But.

I will cede the point for mental health facilities. Hell, I'd support a raise in state/federal taxes if it meant that there were facilities that existed for people with mental health problems.

If it'd stop nightmare tragedies like this, I will support it.
