I performed once at one of those events where people in a county come together to vote in the primaries. The one I performed was in 2008, when it was Hillary vs. Obama for the Democrats. I made up some random rock songs about Obama and Hillary for that.

The last band I played with was with guys my age that I had played on and off for close to 20 years now. Geno the guitar player had the jam room, it was a museum to rock. One wall was his vinyl collection, everything else was covered with posters and all kinds of crazy stuff.

The drummer was only a few years younger than the rest of us and everyone had health complaints when we got together. Hell Geno used a hearing aid. The rock music we played was standard for today's senior citizen. It got to the point that I dated all the material and found out that you'd be lucky to find any one alive who remembered when many of those songs were released.

So when I had organized my band files, things like song lists, lyric sheets and recordings, I started calling the band "Geno and the Geriatrics" and when we got an offer to play a gig, that named got used and it stuck.

We would do great on a senior citizen tour, hitting up the old folks homes and casinos. We could be sponsored by Geritol or Fixadent or Depends and the AARP! We could perform in Florida during the winter, it could work great with the right manager and agent.

I was in a band called Free Draft Beer. We had to change it. The radio station couldn't say our name and where we were playing due to a FCC issue. Something about advertising free alcohol being illegal or something like that.

Wow. That was over 25 years ago.

I have been in loads of crappy joke bands over the years including "Johnny Adequate and the average backing band" and my personal favorite that does not work as well now "The Ed Miller band" that actually came about where we were talking about the politicial Ed Millaband but a mate was stoned and thought we had the name of the Steve Miller band wrong and kept going on about the song the Joker.

Pretty tame, I was once in a band called Satans Meat Machine. We were awful.

On another note, I was at a Car Bootsale on Sunday and one guy was only selling Wheelchairs and Chainsaws, I thought that could be a crazy album name.
