Hole in clouds, anyone know what this is?

How about outdoor search lights? They have a Xenon lamp plus a parabolic reflector. Perhaps they could reflect sunlight as well? They can be preprogrammed to follow spiral and circular patterns.

Thanks, also note how the "hoaxer" completed the missing parts of the original image, cloning some sections and rotating them in mirror.
