was wondering if anyone could explain why we aren't all seeing this at the same time... outside of the effect of having different time zones.

It's cloudy and raining here in the middle of Hellinois too. Probably gonna start drinking early, not because of the eclipse, just because this State is screwed up!

Clouds are just now starting to break, so I might get to see some action. Still gonna start drinking though!

it still fascinates me that we're able to calculate these things years in advance. i realize this knowledge has been around for centuries but i still think its cool when you consider how much math is involved.

Hey, thanks for the thread, Cranial.

My mom lives in Idaho falls, and they have been expecting up to a half a million people to show up there for this event. They are kinda in panic mode... Stocking up on food and water, etc.

Luckily, she got some eclipse glasses for me, and I recieved them when she came to visit earlier this month. They are virtually impossible to get here in southern Colorado.

So I'm watching and waiting. Skies are clear so far!

It's a geometric time scale, as opposed to linear.

We're all under the eclipse, when it gets to our point on the ball.

Porkins, checking in.

All cloudy here on the Western Front (Anchorage). No need for glasses, or filters, or any such. Just an umbrella.

Sucks. We only get a partial so no biggie but still...

Lucky you !

Enjoy, and pay close attention to all the animals (dogs barking, birds chirping, etc) they'll all go completely dead silent during it... it's really eerie.

That's what I remember from the one I experienced way back when.

Visiting Rexburg Idaho to get the totality of the thing. Not nearly as many people as I was thinking would be here.

The same reason everyone in the bar doesn't see the same person standing in front of the bartender at the same time.

If we are all lucky.

Maybe after the eclipse all the insanity will stop.

Wishful thinking. It'll probably bring more crazies out.

There is a weird calm before the storm type feeling goin on. I'm hearing car alarms going off and some neighbors talking really loud haha.

It's almost at peak here. We won't get the full deal here, but the sun will be reduced to a small sliver..

All is quiet now as I type...
