I Salute You! Very nice thread.

I would like to thank those people who take time out of their day / week / month to volunteer for good causes, specifically as befrienders of the elderly. The elderly have seen more in their lifetimes than younger generations, and many have no-one to tell it to.

OP - uplifting discussions are good, well done. Sad to see that some people insist on derailing.

Realise please, that you just scoffed at the idea of thanking GOOD people in uniform or GOOD people who practice law.

You take an "enemy" at the gates approach every time someone is supportive of ANY military or ANY aspect of law and order.

In your mind you have dehumanized them to the point that you are convinced its funny and accepted by most that they are in fact not deserving of appreciation based only on their chosen profession.

FFS man. I have plenty of "left minded" friends here in NYC. None forget reality and common sense in living with other walks of life like that. Thats why they are my friends.

Neither they nor myself could stomach someone so entrenched in their own mind as you are enough to talk to and understand you.

We would do what many do to adults who take a hardline approach. We would ignore you and talk to your kids since they still have hope of being fair minded. Right or left as you would raise them.

We basically vote in private, talk in private and wait for the old guard to die or become irrelevant already.

This is not about those people you took issue with thanking. They are absolutely part of those I was talking about though. Some of them AT LEAST.

Some of the left too. If you are the type of person I described, then its about you.

If not, I will tell you. Its like a zombie growling at my window. You dont exist to me, you are already dead. Its just noise drowning out into the rest.

Put your kids on, we have things to talk about. You are busy anyways.

Denial of the current paradigm, even praise of it... like praising the good 'side' of wildfires. They burn out old undergrowth, fertilize the soil, provide for new growth... never mind the firestorm is sweeping towards your neighborhood, city, country.

Just enjoy the pretty sunsets from the smoke...
