I'm in Canada several times a year -- mostly in the Vancouver area (I have a cousin in Langley and friends just north of Victoria). I love it up there. The people are great and British Columbia is truly beautiful.

But there is something about Canadian "males"... Polite? Yes. Hard-working? Sure. But that's about where it ends.

There is a "sameness" to the personality of Canadian men that many non-Canadian visitors invariably notice. And they would rather apologize profusely for something they didn't do than fight it out. I have personally experienced this more than once.

I think the great songwriter, Randy Newman, said it best in his truly hilarious song "Northern Boy" from the album "Faust":

I would venture to say that if you have repeatedly encountered a lack of interest in Canada to 'fight it out' with you...you, sir, might just be the problem. Not us.
