OMG!!! I feel you just aren't taking this particular end of the world seriously!

It's all fun and games until someone loses all their neighbours and Schuyler goes out like 2012.

Watch out for little eruptions As with magma mapping, the science of forecasting volcanic eruptions is always improving. Most scientists think that magma buildup would be detectable for weeks, maybe years, preceding a major Yellowstone eruption. Warning signs would include distinctive earthquake swarms, gas emissions and rapid ground deformation.
www.livescience.com...

Let's hope not , are there reports of gas emissions or ground deformation ?

Remember when Mount St. Helens went , no one saw that coming.

Sure they did. I was there. Tracking stations were set up all around the mountain. Daily reports measured the growing bulge in the side. A few stupid tourists got closer so they could "see better" (Remind you of anyone?) They knew it was gonna go, just not precisely when. Then one of the geologists radioed in, "Vancouver! Vancouver! This is it!" and they were the last words he ever said. KOMO-TV (Channel 4) had a camera truck in the area and the guy moved closer on a premonition. He managed to survive the ash cloud and got some of the most marvelous film of it on camera.

People will be celebrating, myself included. My only regret will be a brand new Corvette biting the dust with me. That would suck.

This type of action is common in the area. Seismologists are always watching closely, and I would bet they are a bit on edge as the activity has ramped up a bit lately. Could be the usual, but there is always a chance hell will be unleashed when this happens.

Invest in grow lights and indoor farming apparatus, generators, and gas. And of course guns and bullets. Preferably learning how to produce and load your own rounds.

If an event that blocks out the sun happens, people that can grow food indoors will be the new aristocracy. Best to get in on the ground floor.

For those of us who just have to know, for no apparent reason, this from volcanodiscovery.com, a list of all the earthquakes over the last 7 days with their exact location mapped.

Im 950 miles from Yellowstone. Is that far enough to survive?

probably for a while
then once the sun cant get through we are going to be pretty cold

Yes.
The movie 'The Road' seems like a somewhar decent representation of what it might look like before it gets real cold.

I bet it goes off like a really poor fart, the one that feels like you are going to explode, you get up, announce it to your mates, everyone is anticipating, lye back, get out the lighter, pffft....nothing.

Global death.

The only things to survive will be Miley Cyrus, cockroaches, and bill collectors.

i really don't think something this big of an area has the pressure to creat a huge explosion or definitely not a hollyweird "2012" scenario.. but willl give them this one.. www.youtube.com...

We have fire wood and jackets

once the plants that the animals eat stop growing the animals we eat will stop living so it makes little difference.
if that bitch goes we are done

We have barrels of water, and about 25 buckets of assorted rice, beans, and grains. lots of canned meats too. We will share with our immediate neighbors , so we don't have to smell their rotting carcasses. I mean who wants a bunch of over ripe cadavers for neighbors, right?

From threads on the subject that I remember they will be wanting to eat you. Many think eating their neighbors to feed their own is .......ok!

Again, not suggesting anything but... but, if Yellowstone erupts, and it will someday, it will lay waste to all withing hundreds of miles.

Great. I'm headed there tomorrow for a week's driving tour. It would be a great way to go.

Me and the wife will be out in the Black Hills area from Sunday to Saturday. If she goes she goes. Don't really want to be around for the aftermath anyways.

I have been to Yellowstone 6 times over the past 10 years, both back country and normal , and will say that their is 0 to worry about with what you are reporting.

There is a reason its the most active geothermal location on the planet.
Things shake, things run, things live, die, burn ...

If those things stop then it is time to get worried but since they arent , it is operating as expected.
